It'd be cool to get just one movie figure out of this. Future versions of DOFP Wolverine and Storm maybe
Okay.. so... I've grown to rather dislike all of the X-Men movies. But here's the thing; I have a real soft spot for the first one. Not because it's any good or because I even actually enjoy watching it now, but kind of because of what it represented, right? X-Men, some of my favorite comic characters of all time, finally on the big screen. Blah blah.
What I'm saying is, I would absolutely buy a stupid black leather first movie costume Wolverine figure made to the current standards of Hasbro Marvel Legends figures. In fact, if they made it, I would feel outright obligated to own it.
One two pack that would have been cool is Armored Psylocke or Outback Storm packed in with brown costume Wolverine on the new pinless buck.
I enjoyed the XMen movies. Some more then others, but I was entertained by all of them. Even Origins Wolverine. That movie, as a movie, isn't bad. It's a fun ride. But as a backstory for Wolverine it was trash. We all have this expectation for that part of his life that it could not deliver on. But it had some good moments, and it did give us the Deadpool films. X3 was also somewhat disappointing. But it is watchable, for me anyway. And Hugh Jackman is amazing as Wolverine. I think maybe he is why I don't hate any of them. He makes them enjoyable. Most of the cast was pretty spot on for their roles. It was some of the writing and story that wasn't the best.
Which also means, I would definitely get new figures if they made them. The old ones are dated. And the new ones they did a couple years back or whatever for Deadpool and the Jackman figures not in uniform were really good.

I totally get that, and part of me would feel the same. It's probably why I have the Tobey Maguire figure even though I never really liked those movies, but it was the first big Spider-Man movie!
And the X-Men... I never really liked the movies either (I enjoyed First Class quite a bit, mostly), but I REALLY appreciated how they handled it very seriously and more or less respectfully. It wasn't Batman & Robin. And I don't mean dark or grounded, I mean where they tried to grasp what the characters are about, their struggle, what they stand for, and take that conflict very seriously. So I do appreciate that, even though I didn't like the costumes, some of the casting, etc. (I thought Patrick Stewart, though an INCREDIBLE actor, was a really obvious choice at the time, and I admit I never was down with a six foot Logan).
But yeah, all that said... if caught on the right day, I'd probably get that figure.
Really digging the new head sculpts for these Wolverine figures. They are so much better than the soft, ugly sculpts we used to get for him. Which makes it all the more confusing why the packaged hot claws Wolverine with such a nice unmasked head, and then used the old cowled head on it. I mean, I know why they did it, but the difference between the quality of the sculpts is night and day.
@trunks3540 I tend to agree. The first trilogy was like the proving ground for what followed. The aspect that aged the worst (costumes) were the way they were because Hollywood was terrified of making a comic book movie look like a comic book movie. If they were made today, the characters would look more like the source material and not the silly black leather we got. The return movies with First Class and Days of Future Past already marked an improvement there. The fanboy in me will always hate how the timeline was treated though and how Sabretooth was just wasted in the first film and Deathstrike in the second. And even though that second film is good, Striker being changed to a military man from an evangelist really took some of the wind out of that character's sails. The movies that followed DoFP were pretty bad so I look forward to seeing what Disney does with the franchise in the hopefully not too distant future. The two Deadpool movies have been great, but feel like a different universe from any of the other X-Men movies. I'm looking forward to seeing what Deadpool 3 brings to the table, even if the whole multiverse bit is feeling really tired at this point.
I already said that I consider the worst part of that trilogy to be the costumes, so I'm curious if Hasbro has any real desire to explore them as figures. I suppose if they wanted to test the waters, doing a one-off Wolverine makes the most sense. If he sells well, then you move on to the others though the licensing rights could be tricky since some of those actors have been removed from the franchise for awhile now.
I either want Hasbro to do the whole team - or none at all.
And honestly, I had figures of the whole team, that matched (more or less!). I sold them off. Kept Nightcrawler, Phoenix and Jean (the zipped up ponytail version I FINALLY bought during the pandemic).
But they might sell as well as the GOTGv3 wave - which appears to be not great. A wave is too samey, so a boxset would be the best. With a cool base!
That said, does anyone remember the figures coming out way after the first movie? There's a whole bit about that in the new "MCU" book I read over the holiday and I don't remember not being able to find figures.

Was that the Joanna Robinson book?
If we DON'T get Albert with Elsie Dee, this year, I say we riot. 😉 😛 lol Cause that'd just be blasphemous.
Yeah, I'll riot over that - they should be in this set or an adjacent release, way more interesting than the Wolverines they did reveal. I dare you Hasbro.
I'm currently working my way through the "Second Genesis" X-Men Epic Collection (Claremont, Cockrum, Byrne), and I'd forgotten that Wolvie wore that Fang costume not only in the M'Kraan Crystal story, but in two issues of Iron Fist (which also have Sabretooth's first appearance) when they got back as well.
So yeah, missing out on that costume with Lilandra becomes even more relevant.

That is another example of the cast being amazing though. Brian Cox was fantastic. He played the role they gave him perfectly. And Alan Cummings, while at first i was like "really?" But then I watched it, and I admit they were right about him, he did a great job. I went and saw X2 in the theater 4 times. And then bought it on DVD when it came out. Now I have all the blu rays. And I still have my XMen 1.5 as well. But i was super disappointed back then when we didn't get half the figures from the films. No Angel, no Deathstrike, no new costumed Jean and Storm, and a garbage not even close Rogue. And then no Nightcrawler in his team outfit. No Pyro. And the good Wolverine they did for the second film was missing his belt buckle so he looked really weird. And the bad one looks like Elijah Wood cosplaying Wolverine lol. And the first movie Wolverine doesn't have mutton chops. Honestly, for me personally, just because I love those movies, I would legit buy whole waves of them to replace the ones we got that are bad now, and get the ones we never did have. I missed out on Ice Man too. I remember, I was working at KB Toys, and we got 1 case in, that was it. And he was 1 per case. And unfortunately, my coworker friend also collected the figures, and since he worked there longer, and was even the one to get me the job, so he had first pick. And I never saw another one. I really wanted thtlar Shawn Ashmore.
Also, I bought the Sabertooth/Wolverine 2 pack, where Sabertooth has that action feature where you pull the tab on his back and it looks like he's roaring. Anyway, his face melted. Like it's just awful now. It deteriorated away. I wouldn't mind getting a new version. I got that one cause it had the coat, and I loved the coat.

that’s what I was really hoping for, not Lady Mandarin.
It’d be hard pass on any more FoX-Men legends for me
Yeah... I feel like they could keep cranking out Wolverine 2-packs indefinitely and do pretty well.
Pinless brown/tan Wolverine with Outback Psylocke
Fang costume Wolverine with D'Ken (or any number of Shi'ar characters)
Black/Silver X-Force Wolverine w/ X-Force Hepzibah (she can then be re-released in original outfit in Starjammers 3-pack with Raza and Corsair later)
Astonishing costume Wolverine w/ updated Astonishing era Beast
Bone Claws Wolverine w/ Exodus
Spy Costume Wolverine w/ spy Creed (or Wraith, or Maverick or whoever)
Like they could do 3 sets a year, every year in perpetuity since every 3 or 4 years they could circle back around to the standard costumes for Wolvie and keep dropping in needed supporting characters
