About three weeks ago I saw the video review below about a pretty cheap $35 venomized horse being sold on Aliexpress. I really liked the way it looks and particularly the way it articulates in the video, so I gave it a shot.
Today it arrived from China. I cracked the box open and it looks good, but I did not want to touch it--it's got a very strong odor of glue. Not a fatal problem, but I've never tried to get that smell out myself so I'll be experimenting over the next week or two removing that smell before I handle it much. Tomorrow I'll probably try handling it with gloves or a paper towel, and my current plan is to wrap it in dryer sheets for a week or so to absorb the chemical smells. I've always heard that stuff does eventually go away if you use something to absorb the smell, so I guess I'll be finding out if that's true.
I had seen that crazy venom horse floating around and was tempted. $35 doesnt feel outrageous for a horse figure if it isnt terribly constructed. You might have sold me on it.
I've been thinking about that Venom horse as well. I've never bought anything from Ali Express before so I was hesitant. Are they reputable? Or is it like ebay where is just kind of depends on the seller? It looked like most of the stuff on there was knockoffs. Thanks for letting us know about the glue odor. The comment of something along the lines of "handling this product may increase cancer risk" was kind of shocking to someone who doesn't generally buy knocks off and stuff from Ali Express or directly from China as well. Not used to seeing that. I'm still considering it.
@enigmaticclarity When you do get a chance to mess with it a bit more, please let give us more of a review. Thank you!

I've never thought of AliExpress as "reputable". You almost always get what you order, though. I've never had to dispute a purchase but they are pretty adamant that their refund policy favors the customer. Yes, a lot of the items on there are KO products, hence the price. I wouldn't trust the authenticity or quality of anything on their site that's priced/labeled as genuine. The warnings of "handling this product may increase cancer risk" could be the result of California's Prop 65, but I'm not a scientist or conspiracy nut so I won't make a definitive statement on that. The stank is real. I've bought a few KO clones and they all have an overpowering chemical funk. It fades eventually, but has never completely gone away. I don't sleep with them or store them inside myself so it's not a huge concern, but certainly unnerving.
I bought alot of those clones. I've never had an issue getting what I buy. Just know it's probably all knock offs. But they do also sell custom things on there like capes, swords, and guns. Probably other things too. I actually bought a painted head for my old Commander Cody from BS fairly cheap and it was really well done. Its basically like Etsy but most of the shit comes from China.
Yeah for sure AliExpress is the place to go for knock offs and unlicensed customs.
I'm still kicking myself for not ordering the Juggernaut Colossus figure that was selling there a couple of years ago. It looked pretty good and it doesn't look like Hasbro is in any hurry to do that figure.
Anyway, I pulled the trigger in part because I've been advocating for some horses for my Marvel display - and honestly, even if Hasbro got around to doing one, there's no way it would be this cheap.
I have had mixed results with Ali express. A couple of things were fine. I brought a set of about 8 lego knockoff minifigures and one came with 2 of the same arm but I couldn't be bothered following up on it. The last thing I ordered was a street fighter figure and what turned up was a single AA battery. Anyway all I had to do was send a photo (not that, that really proves anything) and I got a refund straight away. So im no worse off except for a slight pain in the arse trying to track down the figure again.
I can never decide if Aliexpress is more similar to Amazon or eBay. I haven't seen that Aliexpress itself sells stuff like Amazon sells tons of stuff, but maybe they do, I dunno. All I've seen there is third-party sellers, and that reminds me most of eBay, so I lean towards Aliexpress being the eBay of China.
Been messing with the Venom horse more. The range of motion is extremely limited, particularly with the head that can't really look side to side at all and the lack of a mid-torso diaphragm joint. Still haven't gotten the smell out, but all I've tried so far is wrapping them in Bounce dryer sheets which has helped a bit. Overall it's nowhere near the quality of a Hasbro figure, but it's not at all terrible and the sculpt is nice, as are the multiple head options and magnetic tongue. I'm glad I have it, and it's worth around the $35 I paid to get it.
