Let's speculate!
From EnigmaticClarity
"Another thing that came out of the MCUCollector24 interview with the team was he asked them if there were any more BAF waves this year, and Dwight said yes and that it will feature what he considers to be the "most epic BAF we've done in years" and "it's one of my most favorite things that I've worked on in literally four or five years." It'll be interesting to see what that BAF will be."
I think the epic BAF is Bushmaster in an all-comic Cap wave. From an engineering standpoint I can see why Dwight would love this. The tail can twist and turn. Somebody has the torso, somebody has the tail, somebody has the head, and the rest have the coils.
My theory is that the upcoming Cap film wave was split between film and comic figures. With the first delay announcement, our guys, with the approval of Marvel and Disney, split the in-progress Cap film wave up so there would be Cap film characters in their own smaller wave (like the recent Deadpool film wave) that could be delayed until the film release date was final, and the leftover comic characters would go into their own wave.
I'm also theorizing who would be in the all-comic wave with the comic figures from the originally planned wave, figures in the vault, and characters that could be quickly designed, like D-Man.
From the originally intended Cap wave:
1) Isaiah Bradley
2) Diamondback
3) Sidewinder
Put Together/from the Vault:
4) Some version of Steve Rogers, maybe Nomad
5) Demolition Man
6) An Avenger that's been in the Vault, Stingray, Sersi in green, Swordsman, Starfox, Yellowjacket, Black Widow in grey without the jacket... let's go with Stingray
7) Someone "easy" to kitbash and put in the wave - either Spitfire, Jim Hammond Human Torch or Baron Blood... let's go with another female figure that Bushmaster's torso can be packed with
I still stand to my often-cited prediction that Classic 70's red and white Falcon is a store exclusive or in the Secret Wars wave.
A Wolverine wave
"Battle Damaged" Wolverine
Daken (in a white wife beater, and jeans, & all 3 claws)
Albert /w/ Elsie Dee
X-23 (original costume, with toe claws)
Silver Fox
Birdy
Wild Child (purple and black costume)
BAF Romulus
A Cameron Hodge/Phalanx BAF would be the sort of thing I think Dwight would love given the bonkers design, and as noted an X-Men wave is probably due.
That arcade style Wolverine has to go somewhere. A new classic Cyclops might make sense given the Phoenix deluxe. Classic Banshee, Human X-Factor Beast, Rachel Summers, 1st Appearance Kitty Pride.
A Cameron Hodge/Phalanx BAF would be the sort of thing I think Dwight would love given the bonkers design, and as noted an X-Men wave is probably due.
I would love a Phalanx wave from both the mid 90s and the late 90s. First wave could be BAF Harvest with some of the GenX members and X-Men characters that contributed to that story, Captive Sabretooth etc. And the second wave could be one of those more black-suited Phalanx members with the 6 red eyes and blade appendages with each figure being one of the X-Men in their space suits and Deathbird.
@beamish Man, some of those you listed could well get movie figures, but I'm not assuming they will with the way things are shaking out with movie figures anymore.
I want so bad, for it to be an Ultraverse wave with a NM-E BAF, but I have almost no faith that Marvel would let that happen.
So…..
Ill try something else a bit different
a 2099 dedicated wave:
BAF Hulk 2099
Ravage 2099
Punisher 2099
Doom 2099
Bloodhawk
La Lunitica
Skullfire
…aaannd I’ll just be holding my breath in anticipation….
I like Beamish’s list, and as much as I’d like a Bushmaster, he just doesn’t scream “Epic” to me. When I think of epic, I tend to think of a grandiose character, or an important saga. With that in mind, my wave even falls a bit short. So epic BAF’s…..
Terminus
Fin Fang Foom (update)
Tricephilus
Korvac (energy form)
Devil Dinosaur
Cameron Hodge (Phalanx)
Tri-sentinel
Growing Man (or any of the multitude of growing characters)
Crystal Dragon (Crystar)
Jade Dragon
Ultimo
…the list can go on and on.
Beamish that wave would be an absolute all-time favorite if made. Would love to see that come to fruition.
Is this wave going to end up being BAF #100? My random shot in the dark guesses:
Valkyrie w/Aragorn
or Abyss
"Epic" to me heavily implies something outside of the norm or visually unique and interesting, and both of these fit that bill. Personally I'd be thrilled with another AoA wave, though it does seem unlikely. Valkyrie and Aragorn seem more like a matter of time though.
My personal preferences would be for Titanium Man, Firepower, Ultimo, or NM-E. But knowing Dwight, I would agree with everyone who is guessing the big robot crab version of Cameron Hodge.
Did Dwight like Age of Apocalypse? I’d love to see a Holocaust/Nemesis figure.
@detectivehoag Yeah I like that Holocaust figure (and the 5” figure), but as you noted, he really needs an update with better articulation and sturdier construction.
I have no idea what to expect but I love some of the ideas in this thread. Bushmaster (the Serpent Society version) was my BAF pick for a few years in the official top ten list (and really, I know Serpent Society are a bit of a running gag for Legends, but I love those third-rate villains and I hope Diamondback in the new film and that recent casting decision for Sidewinder puts some wind in their sails).
I'd commit a felony for a new classic Valkyrie and Aragorn.
I don't see them doing Devil Dinosaur but man that'd be an absolute HOOT.
@docsilence I would love to get movie versions of the Serpent Society, but I hope they lean into the comic style costumes for them.
