Here’s what I wrote, minus some family and other geek stuff. I’ll let ya all know what I hear. 🙂
Hey! One of the major toy groups online came up with a list of some comic based characters they’d love to see as Hasbro Marvel Legends. I figured (no pun intended) that I would share a few of the top choices with you:
1970s Classic Captain Britain
Jack of Hearts
Stingray
Kurse
Warriors Three
Skurge
Attuma
M'Baku
Mantis
Swordsman
This is fantastic! Thanks for passing it along. I have a feeling if he hands them that list verbatim they'll have a pretty good idea where it came from...
Here’s a little fun fact: I wrote the “Then and Now” text for Randy Bowen’s line of mini-busts for several years. I wrote the text for over the last 140 busts. I’d have to check to see how many I wrote.
Man... the Marvel Legends team could knock it out of the park if they took a page out of the Bowen Mini Bust line to make figures:
Classic Banshee
The X-Men 5 in their Graduation Uniforms
The original Guardians of the Galaxy line up
Attuma
M'Baku
Skurge (Executioner)
Mephisto
Jack of Hearts
Stingray
Marrina
Mastermind in his trenchcoat look
Gorgon
Triton
Mandarin (in his classic big M costume)
Crimson Dynamo
Annihilus
Kurse
Uatu the Watcher
Captain Britain in his classic red costume
Air Walker
The Warriors Three
Original (cowboy) Ghost Rider
Man, that would be something
Y’all joke about bribery but I would actually go a pretty fair distance, financially, if it guaranteed that the ML team would crank out a nice classic Gene Colan Dracula. I’m not gonna say how much, but it would be a pretty damn fair distance.
I sent my text right before I saw your post re: Drac. Otherwise I’d have included him. I will next time.
You’re the bestest!
[and I just noticed I unintentionally thumbs-down reacted to your reply initially, which is like the opposite vibe of the amount of genuflecting and personal sacrifice I would endure to get this figure made, and also I appreciate you]

That would be truly great, if every character that received the Bowen mini-bust treatment was made into a Marvel Legends figure.

Like I said, I’m happy to share ideas and suggestions. 🙂
It’s funny what you said about unintentionally giving a thumbs down, because I did that yesterday in this very thread!
This stupid thread sent me down a rabbit hole realizing how many great Bowen mini busts I still want - and there's ALOT. The release volume became so much more limited at the end so stuff like Sauron and Lady Deathstrike and Strong Guy are just ridiculously expensive to try and own now.
Bowen did nearly 300 releases - with a number of those being multi-packs - so closer to 330 actual busts. Of those I own about 110 and there is a list of at least 40 more I want. It's ironic that the price on the busts from the earlier phases are low - especially for more minor characters - the inhumans can be picked up for $30 each if you are patient... but the busts from Phase 4 when production runs were much smaller and there were much more collector club only releases - those are crazy. $700 for Sauron, $1500 and up for the Guardians of the Galaxy.. sigh. Of course Phase 4 was when I had my baby and stopped actively buying - so it's the expensive ones I'm missing. That's always the way 🙂
Alright, I'll stop boring people with talk about cold cast porcelain mini-busts that only I (and maybe Hulkster) care about.
The wait for that Rom action figure is going to be excruciating... but so satisfying once he's here.

Tremendous post Panther Cult!
The Bowen mini-busts hold such a special place in my heart. Although my collection is tiny compared to what it once was, I still love it. So many of those sculpts perfectly capture the essence of the characters. Battle Armor Thor and Beta Ray Bill are two of my all-time favorites. I went on a mad crusade back in the day for BRB and also the Frog of Thunder.
Iron Fist and original classic Captain Britain are another two I love.
I think I posted pics of my ROM busts on this forum awhile back. I’ll have to figure out how to do so on this version of the forum. One ROM bust is one of twelve, and the other is… I can’t recall. Nor can I recall who sculpted them. I’m getting old. Sigh… It was a Bowen Designs sculptor, though, and Bowen’s main painter painted them for me. I feel terrible that I can’t recall their names. Danno was the painter’s nickname. I love those busts. 🙂
The wait for the ROM figure will be tough. The wait for the ROMnibuses was bad enough. Especially after I worked on them, and their release was delayed. I think I worked on them two years before Vol. 1 came out.
PS: I thought when I signed up, my user name was Stormbreaker. I don’t know how Hulkster became my user name! 😅
I never got into Bowen as it was too much to add to my existing collecting habits. But I have admired many of them from afar, and often look for a Bowen statue or bust when trying to find an iconic 3d representation of a character. ML could do themselves a favor and pull their designs for classic comic figures directly from some of that work.
I always regretted missing out on the Gladiator (Kallark) Bowen statue. I’m a HUGE fan of the character and have the bust, but missed the full statue. 🙁

Battle Armor Thor, Beta Ray Bill, Iron Fist and Captain Britain are all in my collection for sure as exquisite examples. Obviously I'm partial to the M'Baku bust - it's literally the only figural representation of the comic character I've ever come across. But a couple of other favorites are Vindicator - the cocky pose and shiny metallic red really pop, Omega Red came out really well, and Stingray is another super dynamic one - and now I realize all of those share a red and white motif, so maybe I have a type 😀
One character I always thought it would have been fun for them to do - but I get why they didn't because he was off the Marvel radar at the time - was Man Wolf. I think Bowen's team would have rocked that guy in his stargod singlet, with a snarl and a sword drawn. Alas.

Your username does show up as Stormbreaker... I referenced you by your @ that is listed underneath your username, and for that I apologize.

I had Vindicator and Stingray, and liked them a lot. Vindicator’s metallic red paint was so eye catching! I never had Omega Red, but I remember thinking what a great job they did on him.
Man-Wolf was most likely going to come out if the license had been renewed. I was always hoping for that project to beat the end of the license deadline. No luck, however.
No problem about which name you use! I recall having to do something different when signing up for this incarnation of the website; something involving two names or something?
Just read the first few issues of ROMnibus Vol. 3 last night. What a great series. 🙂
PS: The format of this website is the worst I’ve ever encountered. Weird auto “corrects” that cause numerous misspellings, and unexpected page refreshing and keyboard jumps make this terribly frustrating.
ROM needs to Neutralize it. 😉
