He's smaller than the average Legend? I thought these were in that weird Movie Maniac scale range of not-quite-6".

Hmmm.

TALLER.  He's about half an inch TALLER.

Received Cyclops today.  As expected Todd did not bother to fix the coloring issue on Cyclops' forehead, despite it being quite clear on the box art and the included card that Cyclops' forehead is not blue.  The shading on the figure looks good, the gold colored plastic for the yellow is more a dijon/gold amalgamation.  Overall the sculpt is nice, the hair looks great.  But I could have done without the frosting on the optic blast flare if they had just painted the d@mned forehead correctly.  The bases interlock between the back of Wolverine's and the front left side of Cyclops', so they're pretty spaced apart in the overall diorama look.  It'll be interesting to see how they handle Iceman since he was way in the background on the cover, or if Todd will just forget he was there and not include him.  I'd assume next would be Gambit/Psylocke/Colossus.  Hopefully we get greater attention to detail on those, as the blue forehead for me was such a bummer.  I'm glad I got it on a discount via some store credit I had.  If there are any customizers/painters reading this who end up getting this "statue", please let me know what color of fleshtone would likely match best for Cyke's forehead, as it will be tenuous painting under his coifed hair, but I'd still make the attempt to fix this glaring issue.

OK... finally got my first of these McFarlane cover statuette thingies....   I was tempted by a couple but honestly the overdone cross hatching paintwork was a real turn off for me and I couldn't pull the trigger.    But I couldn't pass on Strom and I have to say I really like her in hand.     She doesn't suffer from the over-detailed painting issues that made me pass on the Layton Iron Man and Zeck Captain America previously.     It's a fun pose and great piece.     It fits well on the shelf of X-Men statues I have and I am satisfied with the purchase.

Of the new items shown off this weekend, and coming off my satisfaction with Storm,  I definitely want the Beast.    I do like that there was less shading paint on all of the new pieces,  though I dont care at all for the style of Iron Man they chose to do.     The Thing looks good but isnt for me.  Not sure if I need Deadpool, but maybe.

Oh forgot to comment on the most disappointing reveal..  Black Panther.    My favorite character gets an absolutely garbage design.     They could have gone with the iconic John Byrne image from Jungle Action 23.   Or maybe one of Sal Velutto's iconic covers issue 27 or 43.    This figure looks terrible, but its Black Panther so I will buy it.

This line almost tempted me with the announcement of the Thing. But I will continue to pass. Didn't see Beast? Is it from the Jim Lee cover like Wolvie and Cyke?

Yes,  its  Beast from Jim Lee X-Men 1.     But unlike the others they've done so far it isnt splashed with black paint everywhere.

Beast might be a good fit for an Avengers display, despite his very 90s head. But hey, any way that isn't expensive to add Beast to shelves at this point is welcome.

The only problem with that would be the giant "X-MEN" logo emblazoned across the bottom of the piece -  that doesn't fit as well in an Avengers display.

Hopefully the figure and base can separate - I know Spider-Man separated (which was a surprise to me because mine fought when I tried), but have others?

Otherwise, just picture him leaping from the X-Men to the Avengers.

So, the Cyclops and the Wolverine's bases fit together.  My guess is they'll be continuing this trend with the characters from each variant cover.  This amounts to a large footprint, so I'd argue it's more of a diorama in reality.  Also, I've looked through X-Men#1 and never noticed Archangel is stuffed into one of the variant covers.  Only took me 34 years to notice.  I dunno how they'll have Archangel suspended on the support rod like Magneto, but still have him flying low enough to be stuffed in Storm's armpit like on the variant cover.

Well, considering he didn't make Magneto just a giant torso and head I guess he's assuming people will position these things relatively to create the appearance of different sizes and Archangel will be supported at the waist (and wingtips?)  and folks'll just have to set him further back...

I honestly think Beast is the only of these I will get though.

Is there a reason most of your posts start off with some sort of attempt at calling the previous poster stupid or wrong in some way?  Did anyone suggest we'd get a floating torso as you described?  Chill out.  It's hard to know if you're trying to be witty or just aggressive to anyone else's thoughts.

@jtmarsh  Sorry,  I wasn't intending any snark,  and I may actually have misread the wording of your comment or what you were trying to convey with it I guess.

My assumption though is Archangel will be the same size as everyone else,  but I can see in re-reading your post that you agree and were suggesting that for that to be the case the footprint of this joined scene will actually end up being quite large -  which is true and which I totally agree with.

We already know with the Magneto that's been made that - despite his larger depiction in the Jim Lee image due to forced perspective - the plastic statue figure is relatively the same size as all the others released so far,  so it's logical to assume the same will be true for the rest and it will be down to positioning to achieve the perspective of the comic covers.     Clearly given how far back Archangel and Xavier are in the picture that would require an entire table top to display the way the cover depicts,  so I suspect most people will end up having the characters bunched a little closer together.

But, as you pointed out... that could get crowded for the likes of Archangel if the space gets collapsed.   Do you just have him go higher so he'll be above Colossus since there won't really be room between him and Storm?   That seems the most likely -  but I'll admit to being curious about how they solve the problem.

And again,  my apologies for any perceived snarkiness as that wasn't my intent at all.

That's fair, and I appreciate your explanation.  I'll chalk it up to miscommunication, and I apologize as well if I misinterpreted, it just came across as such.  I've considered whether background characters may be issued smaller than the rest to get the intended look, like Iceman, Jean and Xavier.  I don't know that Todd will as then he could no longer justify each being $30 unless maybe he put them in a multipack for the same price.  I think if they're regular sized you're talking about a 2-3 foot by 3 foot diorama by the end of it, and I don't have an extra coffee table to just display this thing at all times.  I assume Archangel will get a higher perch rather than blocked out by Storm; it always seemed like he flew higher than Storm in general anyways.  But space is going to be a concern by the time they finish all of this.  Beast looks good.  I'm questioning how the female characters will look though, whether they'll make the sculpt/paint sufficient to convey attractiveness for each or if they'll be muddled etc.
