It's good they finally announced a diva, albeit a strange obscure choice. I always side eye companies, artists and individuals who don't feature any women in their line-ups.

Seriously. Related, whenever I see pictures of people's collection that is only male characters leaving off the female team members I have a little question in my head. People can collect how they want - I have shelves full of just women! - but it is interesting.

Just saw that Cyclops from X-Men #1. I may have to go back and get that brown Wolverine after all!

Liking that Daredevil, hope to see some better images of it soon.

McFarlane's released pics of the newer releases coming from the statue line.  I liked Wolverine, Magneto less so because of his large white eyebrows that aren't very visible on the X-Men #1 cover, but are prominent on the figure.  It still looks alright at a distance though.  This new Cyclops has some glaring issues though.  His forehead is  blue, indicating they didn't bother to paint it flesh toned to match the cover art.  And for some reason they've painted the black on the X lapel medallion/communicator OUTSIDE the actual lines.  If this is the direction things are going to continue going I may be out before we ever get Rogue/Gambit/Colossus, and I don't even know how they plan to do Iceman considering how small he was on that cover.

Yeah, I preordered Cyclops, but I'll be hovering over reviews to see if those issues make it to the finished product. Hoping not, as I really do like the idea of this line and could see myself getting plenty.

I continue to appreciate the look of the sculpts and hate the paint choices they are making -  the copious use of black paint has ruined my desire to buy any of these so far.    I had considered several previously and once getting them in hand left them where I found them because of the shading choices and what I view as simply too much black paint for shading.      I do think I may buy that Storm statue...  less chance to ruin the black costume with black paint shading.

Are the statues based on X-Men #1 meant to connect?

I don't think McFarlane made interlocking bases, but I only own Deadpool and Spider-man thus far so not sure.  I have a feeling I will end up getting that Cyclops.  Maybe Spider-man and Storm, too, Storm looks very good to me.  Maybe wait until I see the deluxe '97 one Hasbro is cooking.

That Secret Wars Spider-Man is looking pretty good to me, too.    It does a good job with Zeck art and the costume itself mitigates what they can do with the over shading.

I actually like the look of that Thor as well... until I see the underside of the arms which looks like a kindergartener got at him with a sharpie...

These are 3-D objects that cast their own shadows... why are we painting super exaggerated shadows onto them?   It's stupid and awful and I hate it.

@normdapito

It looks like Wolverine and Cyclops’s bases would fit together (that odd flat spot at the front of Cyclops’s base looks like the flat back of Wolverine’s). There wouldn’t be a hard connector though. Magneto’s is a totally different color and doesn’t connect to Wolverine’s at all.

Too bad about the missed paint on Cyclops’s forehead though. It’s pretty odd looking.

How does the McF Magneto look on an ML shelf size-wise? Target had him half off today and I thought for that price it might be worth a repaint to have him in that exact pose in the back of my shelf. Has anyone seen him repainted?

And it would be proper perspective if he's in the back, so a slight size difference might be okay. Plus, floating. 🙂

He's about a head/helmet taller than your average Marvel Legend, but he is floating too, so it's probably less easily distinguished.  I don't know that I'd even bother to repaint him, he looks cool as is.  His eyebrows are glaringly white making him look more like an old man in my opinion.  Had they darkened his eyebrows some I think he'd look more in keeping with the 90s Magneto Mafex figure / the Jim Lee panels we're all familiar with.

I'm not convinced I'm going to luck out and Cyclops isn't going to arrive at my door with a blue forehead though.

He's smaller than the average Legend? I thought these were in that weird Movie Maniac scale range of not-quite-6".

Hmmm.
