Oh wow that's awesome. Hope the 1:10 scale ones will be more akin to the overpriced Iron Studios statues or Todd's own Fallout stuff, so basically something that could stand next to figures.
I suppose this is interesting in the Marvel working with McFarlane sort of way - but not in a "ooh there's something I want" sort of way. Never a big enough fan of McFarlane's Marvel work to want it memorialized as a statue.
I have two Byrne X-Men statues (X-Men 133 cover and X-Men 137 cover) and I would take a Paul Smith inspired X-Men statue maybe (UXM 165 cover Storm or UXM 175 cover Dark Phoenix) but I can't imagine wanting McFarlane inspired statues enough to purchase them
As long as these aren't stupidly expensive, I'll need the FA Deadpool. I can definitely see a market for these.
OK.... why did I click on the link though? I don't care at all about the pictured Todd based Spider-Man or Cap... but that Iron Man looks really good. Sigh.
Their social media post had me in a flat out momentary panic that McFarlane was taking over for Legends. Thank gawd it's just statues. Multiverse can't hold a candle to Legends IMO as a toy line.
Exact same. Tiny heart attacks until my reading comprehension kicked in.
Well he did it, McFarlane sought out what he wanted eventually to do and that was to collaborate with Marvel in some form. It was never about action figures it was more about having his Marvel art being statues or pre-posed figures as some call them stamped with a Marvel logo. Hasbro or DTS was never in any danger. This was exactly what he wanted to do. If I can I will try to score some of his autographed pieces for you know they are coming.
Ah right there's the second link with Spidey, Iron Man, DP and Wolvie. That's about what I wanted. Wolverine will be mine.
I'll definitely be picking this one up:
The McFarlane Spider-Man is my definitive Spider-Man, and Hasbro for some reason never seems to wants to make Legends figures of that look. This would be a good way to get him on the shelf, even if I have to put it on a separate shelf from the rest of my Marvel characters.
X-Men in affordable statues like this would really peak my interest. But I'm not as interested in Wolverine on his own if they're not gonna do other X-Men as well.
I don’t have any space for statues or love for McFarlane. This line is not for me.
I still want an action figure capable of hitting McFarlane poses like the one of Spidey above. Neither the Mafex nor the latest Hasbro molds can get anywhere close to a crunch where the figure is bent in half, much less the pose above where Spidey's right leg goes beyond 180 degrees and is like 40 degrees behind his head.
I'm always confused about why anyone calls stuff like this "figures." I would have called them statues.
McFarlane was interviewed recently by the Adventures in Collecting podcast, and he addressed this exact issue with naming these things. He called them "plastic statues" I suppose because by default you assume statues are made from some stone or cement-like material.
