Well crap. It’d have to be the best thing MS has solicited in years that gets tarriff-f***ed. I’m still hoping against hope that some of these got produced and will be fire-sold off.
If not, hope Hasbro steps into the breach.
I hope my fellow Americans are paying attention.
Wait, you mean to tell me that the other countries aren't going to pay the tariffs for us?
So Canada Tariffs are delayed by a month and I just heard (yet to confirm) that Diamond got a $40 mil lifeline.

@rob-w if the company were to fold with stuff already produced or in production, it wouldn't surprise me if Disney stepped in and took ownership of it (especially if the license isn't being sold with DST) and put it on their webstore or in their parks. Still hoping for the best outcome for all of the people who work at DST.

Great news about the tariffs getting delayed. Is the $40 million in addition to the $41 million debtor in possession from JP Morgan Chase? I definitely hope some of that money is going to DST figure production/distribution.
The tariffs on Chinese imports weren't delayed. Wouldn't those be the ones that would affect DST?
Man...those tariffs for Negative Zone are hitting hard.

I thought the 25% tariffs on Canadian imports would be devastating to Diamond because many comics are printed in Canada. I assume DST's fate is, at least, partially tied to Diamond Comic Distributors. The stupid 10% tariffs suck, too, and will not help DST. Fortunately, the U.S. could have a viable toy manufacturing industry in a decade or so, or we'll all be priced out of the hobby and our homes.

Or there just won't be mass-market action figures for adult collectors really. Kids aren't really into them, especially at the Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse price points. I think the likely outcome of the tariffs (should they actually go into effect and stay there) would be that declining sales for ML and similar lines would make them not an attractive market segment for manufacturers. And in the time it would take to build the capacity for manufacturing, I think the hobby would have largely moved on. Sure, there will always be cheap kids line like Epic Heroes, but I think adult collector stuff would shift to the Japanese imports.

I don't think this is serious, but plan to pay $100 for a Marvel Legend if toy manufacturing moves to the U.S.
Returning manufacturing to the U.S. has been a political catchphrase since globalization began, but it's a really fucking stupid idea. Most manufacturing jobs are difficult, dangerous, and low-paying. Most of the people who worked those jobs have found better jobs elsewhere. They aren't sitting around in Factory Town, Ohio, waiting for the jobs to come back. It romanticizes a period of less prosperity.
