I'm really looking forward to getting this wave. Daken will go nicely with the Dark Avengers as they continue to fill out that roster. I've always loved that Ultimate Iron Man armor, though in that shot, it looks a little short. Banshee is obviously a very long-demanded figure, and that Giant Size roster is going to look so nice completed. Adam Warlock fills out that cosmic corner. Miles doesn't seem like much of a big deal. I prefer the Gamerverse version with the unique sculpt. And ROM is not exciting to me at all, despite seemingly the entire collecting community being excited for him. He'll probably just hang with Crystar in a bin.
I can't wait to proudly display all those mini-comics too. They will be a new centerpiece in my collection.
First of all, I can't imagine thinking ROM is the weak link of th is wave. He's the only "First Time in the Line" figure which makes him automatically the best, and that's leaving aside that Rom was fun as part of the Marvel Universe back in the day.
I can't say I'm surprised that this is a 'not at Target and Wal Mart' wave. It seems that is the standard practice for the non movie tie-in, non retro-card waves now.
Still, I'll be excited to order the wave. ROM at long last and classic Banshee too. the rest of the wave could have been all movie Eternals and I still would have been happy.
This wave was supposed to have the BAF spinner rack. I'm hearing it got cut due to overall cost-cutting and concerns about then-potential, now-real, tarrifs.
Why they bothered to include the comics after axing the rack is a mystery unless the comics were already manufactured or someone thought it was a percieved value-add. The boys sure talked up the comics in the last livestream.
I don't see it myself, but this is the company that put those cheap talking chips in the Phantom Menace figures to create a perception of value while offsetting the cost of the license.
If they had to cut something else that was planned I'm not going to complain that they're still including some of it in the form of the comics. Sure it doesn't knock my socks off, but it's a neat little addition. Shame to hear they had bigger plans they couldn't follow through on, though.
They should have kept the spinner rack BAF and dumped the comics.

I'm going to hold you to this going forward.

This is basically always my philosophy. While I often buy "re-do's" or "updates", I rarely feel good about it.
For me I look at it as I've now bought 7 different figures of "Character X" so that means I've actually paid $175 (or whatever amount) for this one figure, because I rarely end up keeping more than 1 version of any given character. Most of the time when I sell an older figure online, I rarely get more than a few dollars over what it costs to ship it so there's rarely really any original cost recaptured to offset the new figure that replaces the old.

Bingo. It's not like all couldn't have printed tiny comic covers from easily available scans at home to stock it with. Now we get a chicklet with some printing on it. BFD.
Frankly, I'm getting a Rom and they could each be packed with a Weasel Nugget direct from KFW if it means I get a Rom.
I was just making a joke. Neither make much of a difference to me, nor do they anger me at all. They should have kept the spinner rack BAF and dumped the comics.

To me, the added mini comic is a big "Who cares?" sort of addition. It's fine, can be fun for photography, and it should be pretty cheap to manufacture so it's not something that's really driving up the cost. Of course, if they try to use it as an excuse to up the price on these figures then that will be absurd. From a planning standpoint though, it makes sense to include the mini comics in a wave first, then come back with a build-a-spinner rack in wave 2 when people already have comics to fill it with. If people seem to like this sort of thing, then I wouldn't consider the spinner rack DOA.

All of this. Preach, brother.
Mmmmmmm.
Weasel Nuggets.
Extra crispy.
