@thor-el I mean its not like comics have never retconned a retcon before lol

I mean... Marvel operates in a Multiverse.   Even if Galador was wiped out in one that doesnt preclude its existence in another and those things can cross unexpectedly.   Jappens all the time.

Right on both, and I knew these were options when I typed it. I just figured I'd point out what Marvel did with them in case folks didn't know.

Like everything in comics (not complaining!), apparently it's back.  I read this in one of those fan-wiki things, and it's sourced as happening in a Yondu miniseries from 2020:

"However, the planet wasn't destroyed but was transported to another location in the space, becoming a global desert full of ruins. The Galadorians barely survived and struggled to get by on their devastated planet. [6] Yondu Udonta and his future counterpart arrived here and assisted in the reconstruction of Galador with a new source of energy.[7]"

I was going to write that Galador probably survived due to some magical means or techno-wizardry, and here you have it: Galador was transported to a different location in space! Not for the first time, as readers of ROM are aware.  🙂

Thanks for posting that.

The Spaceknights live! I'd definitely buy more if they decided to make them. Dire Wraiths as well.

I hope some of the wired goods-making folks have replacement capes planned for Banshee, because I'll be looking for them when he's released. My biggest disappointment with the Mafex Storm is that her cape isn't wired.

Speaking of SpaceKnights; I picked this Gundam kit up when it went up for PO because he looked cool, but now that I've gotten and built him over the weekend I'm thinking I want to up-bash him with an ML for 'solidity' and more satisfying movement.  I love putting shit together (no doubt thanks to building all them RAH Joe vehicles back in the day) but model kit figures are too hollow and light for that real action-figure heft.  I see Blue Marvel is on sale at BBTS, any of you guys know of any issues with him that would prevent me bashing this Bolinaok guy's 'personality' bits to make a fellow SpaceKnight for Rom?

I'm not aware of any specific issues with Blue Marvel -  I don't know if the vest is glued onto the torso or pegged into the back,  that might be the only issue,  but not a major one.

Checking out Pulse today and noticed that on their site from this wave the only two figures not "pre- Sold Out" are Iron Man and Spider-Man the supposed main character anchors.

This is the thing with a wave like this for me -  a wave that isn't going to big box retailers -  why are you "anchoring" the wave with an Iron Man, a Spider-Man and a Wolverine,  taking up half the wave.    I get it if you are trying to sell it at retail establishments, I understand the logic,  but when it's a Fan Channel release there isn't a need for half the wave to be anchor characters.     They could have squeezed something else into the wave - like say a single female character,  Phoenix, Deathbird, Feral -  or a much needed villain Attuma or Baron Blood or Red Ghost or Spot or Swarm ...    anyway, just something that made me wonder.

@panthercult Honestly, my guess is that it wasn't always necessarily intended for Fan Channel only and they just couldn't get the big box retailers to take it. My guess is that they'd like to sell most non-store-exclusive stuff at big box retail and Target and Walmart have just started saying "no" more often after they had to clearance out so much stuff in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic years. I have absolutely no idea if that is actually true or not as I'm just speculating.

Gracias, PC; but I went with the High Evolutionary both for being half the cost and the grooved limb armor.  That's the bits that will end up being visible if I manage to pull the bashing off.  I'm thinking I'll need to lose them big shoulder pads on the Balinoak while keeping the chest/head/flight pack, boots, and glove cuffs with HE's arms, abdomen-thru-knees, and hands.

It could also just be as simple as those "anchor" characters selling better, regardless of if it's through Fan Channel or at retail. Selling out doesn't tell us much as they don't necessarily produce equal amounts of everything.

A question about timelines:

Let's say this was originally a BAF wave with the spinner rack, which was rumored last year, if memory serves maybe sometime between SDCC and NYCC.

Then it was switched sometime after that to a Retro Card wave, losing the spinner rack and probably a 7th character.

If this is the case, BAF boxes (artwork, layout, interior plastic holding the figure) would have probably been designed and been in production, along with the figures, then scrapped for Retro cards.

Question -

How long would it take the design team to create and implement the Retro Card cardbacks? Is that a quick process for Hasbro, or some lengthy process that requires a lot of meetings?

It’s also possible this is their new way of getting out non-baf figures without putting them in a Retro wave where they might not belong.

@beamish That scenario might be why these figures use existing classic comic artwork on the packaging. Yeah it ties into the mini-comic gimmick but it also allows for quick turnaround on the design, since they wouldn't have to hire an artist to draw the card art.

Has the Hasbro team mentioned whether they're sticking to just 1st issues for characters or will they branch off into 1st appearances/iconic covers?

I hate having to bite my tongue, but I’m sworn to secrecy.

What I can say is this.

I learned that characters aren’t produced in the same numbers.

This mini-comic wave was planned long ago, including the mini-comic accessories.  I learned about ROM in February/March 2024. I had been pestering my cousin (in-law) about a ROM figure for quite a while (as well as Marvel for a long time re: reprints). However, that had little, if any, bearing on the ROMnibuses or the figure coming out. I am happy to say that I was assigned the ROM Omnibuses research.  (I’ve had a freelance contract with Marvel for quite a few years. I’ve written a bit for them, and I’m on the Collected Editions team. Not bragging; just clarifying.)

I don’t have any info on the spinner rack accessory.  (I never bothered to inquire.) I’ll ask if you guys are interested.  🙂

There were two characters in this assortment who were deemed the most popular, and were therefore produced in larger numbers.  Ironically, they are the two lowest selling figures thus far.

ROM was the first to sell out from Hasbro as a whole itself.

He was the first to sell out everywhere.

It makes sense. The figure looks really good, it’s the first ROM figure in this scale, and he’s got a solid fan base.

ROM rocks.  Naysayers can suck a Dire Wraith queen’s tentacled maw.  😉

I'm honestly more interested to hear that you're on the Collected Editions team!  Love me some Epics and the occasional Omni.
