I think if this were a Romita Sr. Spidey (or a Bagely even) I'd be all over it. McFalrane style just does not hit for me (though I know it will for a lot of others). Price point is a bit steep, but it's right at the cap of what I'd be willing to pay for this. We'll see what Hulk looks like and who's next in the lineup. A solid Daredevil in this vein, or a Cap and I think I'd snag it.
@yojoebro82 Agreed, while Hasbro has the mass-market Monopoly on Marvel figures, many people buy multiple lines and if I had to choose between a $50 Spidey - even a great Spidey, but also a figure I have many versions of - and 2 $25 figures in a new line that intrigues me, I might head that way.
We will see, they are putting a lot of faith into the idea that extra accessories, and improved articulation and paint apps, are enough of a factor in people's decision making that they will think that is enough extra value to justify doubling the price.
I am torn on this. I don't like that it is $50 but to me this is a better value than Phoenix was. I didn't feel that stand that came with her was worth the extra $25.
I got Phoenix for $25 and considering the fact that Target barely ever stocked her (like all ML offerings) and I got "lucky" and found ONE left in stock at a store 45 minutes away available for order pick up, I consider that a fluke. A fluke I'm not counting on being repeated with this or any other price-gouged ML. If that DID happen, I'd be all in like anyone else here.
Half-off sale prices on phantom stock. What a racket.
The ONLY reason I stopped complaining about that Phoenix was because I got her for $17 due to Target sales. But every time I see that stupid orange EAGLE she comes with I still despise it and I gave her a different head immediately and have never used the two she came with since.
@fac I like the notion someone put forward that this is their attempt to eat into the higher end market (SHF, MaFex, etc). Doesn't mean it is true, but I can see the bean counter logic that hey why not offer a higher priced figure with a bunch of extras and articulation. Then we can hopefully get a few of those import collectors to try our line instead while still having a cheaper option with the regular ML line.
Again not saying it will work, just that I could see the logic being put forward.
Maximum Spider-Man is up on Pulse and Amazon for everyone to pass on.

I will enjoy reading 50 pages of discourse about how fair/unfair the price is with a complete lack of self-awareness that nobody has to buy this, and you do not need another Spider-Man figure and therefore are not being taken advantage of.
It's not a lack of self-awareness - what an insulting dig at others on the same forum as you. If you feel like attacking anyone on this topic, aim high at Hasbro, not low at fellow collectors.
I don't want to get into the pricing debate myself, but I just want to say I would've bought two of these at $30 with fewer bells and whistles to use display using different head options. It is what it is, though. I've got a billion Hasbro Spideys I love, so buying another one or not on me.

ALREADY SOLD OUT!!!!!
Just kidding.
I did like that the push notification I got from Pulse that this was on sale did have to warn me that there was a maximum purchase limit of 5... sigh...
All this talk and I was reading this thread up until about an hour ago and I still forgot to place my order until 1:45. Amazon sold out, bought one from BBTS. Probably not going to be enough stock to get in on BBTS' first shipment.
@canprime I could see that as the goal, it is essentially a "new" line, but it also seems like it is competing with themselves a bit.
It did get me thinking about whether the big ticket items like the HasLabs really puts a bunch of "new" money in Hasbro's pocket or whether much of the big ticket money is just being pulled from people's basic ML figure spending.

This, all day long. Here is the quote about this that I wrote on the Marvelous News forum earlier today on this topic:
I just don't think that this Maximum line is going to be for me. I would have personally rather had the figure, one alternate unmasked head, one set of alternate hands and one other web based accessory for $30-$35 than pay $50 for all of this. Most of that stuff I'll just never ever use. Due to that I think that I'm just going to be more inclined to buy the more basic figures. I would gladly replace any other Spider-Man figure in my collection with this one otherwise, though.
There is the fact that I can't imagine this line going beyond a finite number of Marvel characters. This has to be an almost exclusively A-list club. Hasbro is not going to make a Maximum Series Rock Python.
Looks like it's sold out on Pulse too.
