@tsi Cockrum's was plain yellow with no reflection/sheen to it, though the symbol was much smaller and more basic compared to what we generally think of. Byrne did the Dark Phoenix version similarly plain, *most* of the time but not always. Art Adams also went with plain yellow compared to the gold gloves and boots for his Classic X-Men cover.
Looking back at the art, I see that now. I think my brain just assumed it was all gold.
Quite a coincidence that Mafex Phoenix is releasing right when pre-orders for that deluxe Marvel Legends Phoenix went up yesterday. I'll feel a strong pull to get that Legends Phoenix just to use the base with the Mafex version. 😳

I think tiger stripe Wolverine was re-released before. But yeah, I really want brown costume Wolvie.
I wish they slightly revised the tiger-stripe Wolverine to make the blue stripes black, and to give him the hands from the brown suit version with the better claws. Those two issues really hold me back from replacing my Legends figure with the MAFEX.
Tiger stripe was re-released just a few months ago, so I'm pretty surprised they're re-releasing it again instead of brown suit. Brown suit may be the most in-demand already-released Mafex figure from their catalog. I'll be shocked if it isn't re-issued within the next six months.

There's a guy on the Mafex subreddit who seems to be pretty in-the-know, and he swears up and down a reissue of brown costume Wolvie is coming soon. He's got a proven track record, so I'm keeping my hopes up.
When talking about brown suit's popularity keep this in mind--if you didn't pre-order him then you were playing the refresh-over-and-over game on the Japanese retailer web sites hoping for one to pop up in stock. He was mostly sold out before he was released. I didn't pre-order, so I had to play the refresh over and over game, but I did end up landing him from Amazon Japan.
As far as I've been able to tell he is the most popular Mafex release to date.

There's nostalgia for the brown suit, but there's also the claws. A lot of people hate tiger stripe's claws with myself included, but the ones on brown suit are Mafex's best to date. Love those awesome curved claws that are just the right length and spread.
Question about classic MCU Cap that's supposed to release next month--does anyone think we may not be able to use the classic shield? In the promo shots there are NO pictures of him carrying it, and the two pics there are of it show it as being attached to the rock piece. It'd be weird if they included that classic shield but then we couldn't use it because it has no straps or it's permanently attached to that rock, but it looks like that might be exactly what we get.

Some leaks coming out from the Mafex annual exhibition. It's mostly DC so far but, here's what excites me of the Marvel stuff:
Iceman (still unpainted) - this has been my most wanted figure from any line, since Hasbro has not produced anything even remotely acceptable for a 616 Iceman, so I'm stoked. The wait will be tough.
Jubilee (already painted so will be sooner than later)
They're also showing painted versions of Nate Grey X-Man and AOA Cyclops.
Also, a bunch of MCU stuff I have no interest in - Spider-Man and Black Panther, mostly.
I assume there will be more than just this, as there is a lot more DC stuff.
