Damn they look amazing together, that's a great set.

...I do have to wonder, the fact that they actually already have a painted sample of this in-hand does makes me think it was intended as a tier/package to show off together in person.

But the hell do I know about how early they get samples in before production, or any of their planning whatsoever.

There’s also the possibility it was conceived as a separate release tie-in like when they put out the three Heralds to go with Galactus.

Giant-Man:

6,833 / 10,000 (+305) 68.33% of funding goal with 2d 18h left.

NICE! Good to see a significant bump leading into the final days. Let's hope this means the usual trend kicks in now and we see a large push into the final hours.

Ignore the nay sayers, they get paid to be negative and spread gossip

we are in the home stretch now. I think this has a good chance of funding.

I've been waiting on a Hank Pym for years, so this was always going to be one I'd back.

As far as his size, I don't mind tbh. Pym has been shown to be a similar size in the comics on several occasions (if not bigger), and as far as him being that way as Giant Man in that particular costume/era, while those instances are fewer obviously, I can think of at least one or two (though admittedly from comics that were published in the last few decades as opposed to the sixties).

There are definitely instances in the very early days (as early as Avengers #6/7) of him growing up to 40 feet, so the size works for me!

Woo! Getting close to that 7k number feels good. I'm fairly optimistic we might get the tiers too, especially once it funds and a bunch of people pile in when they see it's going to get made.

I will never understand wanting to see something not get made, this board has been pretty free of that thankfully. I should know better than to expect logic from the Unsullied but a big project failing only hurts the entire brand, it doesn’t help you get what you actually want in any way. Carter Slade’s not coming now that Robbie is gone, not liking it doesn’t make it less true. Don’t buy something you don’t want, that’s absurd, but there’s a big difference between that and hoping for failure. The slow progress of this one makes me doubt there will be another Haslab even if it does finally fund. I’m in for mine, the only mistake I think they made was not including at least one of the alternate heads/faces in the base offering, you always want to encourage buying multiples. I’d be in for two right now if that were the case.

While I do think this funds, I don't see where this thinking comes from.  There's zero loss to Hasbro if they just TRY.  These Haslabs are all big, expensive carrots that are dangled out to fans.  If they don't fund, Hasbro is out nothing.  If they do then they made a big profit.  We'll be back here with another Haslab next year......another MARVEL Haslab, regardless of how this goes.  It will be Fin Fang Foom.  Keep those wallets open.

The work that goes into the design and having at least one physical prototype to show at conventions isn’t free, so they’re out something. It’s not as intense as if they just mass produced Giant Man and had to hope they’d all sell, but no company wants to invest a dollar they don’t think they can make back, and this is costing them more than a dollar I assure you.

They explicitly said that for the Engine of Vengeance they contracted with another company to come up with the design because nobody in Hasbro had enough knowledge of cars to do it as well as they wanted to do it.  I'm not a car guy either so I get that, and I would have no idea what value that added, either.  But I assumed it was in there and that car aficionados would get it, but obviously not since I almost never heard anyone compliment the project on whatever value that external company added in terms of accurate design.

So what would they have paid that company?  I'm guessing no less than $5K, but my bet would be more in the $10K to $20K range.  If we assume $100 an hour--which is a conservative guess because many contract rates are higher than that--then that's $4000 per week.  I'm guessing anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks went into the design of that car, so that's $8K to $16K.

As far as I know Giant-Man was designed and prototyped completely in-house, so if we assume an average rate of $50 per hours, 2 to 4 weeks of design, then that's $4K to $8K of time, plus another $2K to $5K of materials for the prototype.  Someone with experience in industrial design please tell me what I'm overlooking, and knowing I'm overlooking SOMETHING I'm throwing in $5K to my napkin math and guessing they spent about $15K on Giant-Man so far.  But I'd bet more on $20K to $30K to get to this point on the Haslab.

Advertising isn't free either.

@chooch555 but they are advertising mostly on social through the sheep, right? That saves a ton of money. Yeah, they have ads, but generally only on fb and ig, am I right?

They aren’t running commercials or taking out full page ads in the papers, but running ads on Facebook and Instagram is still a cost.
