I don't believe any of the ML 60th Anniversary product released or announced has been MCU, and this Haslab is under the same branding.
If that's true it ends the discussion about comic vs. MCU. When did they associate the 60th Anniversary branding with the Haslab?
After the failure of the Hellcharger they're going to want a guaranteed win based on a proven formula, and comic Giant-Man is the next most obvious choice after the Sentinel and Galactus.
Disagree for the reason I previously stated about the MCU Ant-Man films outperforming the expectations of the comic. Ant-Man and Giant-Man have never even been popular enough to support their own comic title, so the MCU films thriving has been a big surprise.
While the Charger was a bust, I hope they don't step back from vehicles. IMO, a 3rd XL figure is so uncreative, but if they could figure out a way to do costume changes between Original, Goliath, and Barton Goliath, I'd be all in. Otherwise, I can't imagine there's a market for 10,000 Giant Mans, much less hitting 18-20K for whatever Wasp tiers. For retrospect...
Sentinel:
- Backs at 6,000. Sold 21,873.
- Tier 4 at 16,000.
- Worked as an expensive army builder.
- Retail $350. Currently selling for ~$650 shipped.
Galactus:
- Backs at 14,000. Sold 30,811.
- Tier 4 at 22,000.
- Over-speculated.
- Retail $400. Currently selling for ~$550 shipped.
Engine of Vengeance:
- Backs at 9,000. Sold 5,060. 'Nuff said.

The stream back in March where they showed off all the 60th Anniversary products ended with the first tease for this Haslab. Timestamped URL:

It's a fair point, but I still don't think that makes MCU Giant-Man a bigger draw as a product for Marvel Legends, a collector line that is (in my opinion!) primarily driven by comic collectors. Especially after the aforementioned failure of the latest movie.
- Quantumania under-performed, and for many represents peak post-Endgame MCU malaise. It definitely seems like the least optimal time to be pitching the character in a deluxe/premium format.
Even as an MCU-only collector, this is the bottom line to me. The movie wasn't well received and didn't do well in the box office. I would be very surprised if the next Haslab is connected to one of Marvel Studio's biggest missteps. (To be fair, none of the Ant-Man movies pulled Black Panther box office, but Quantumania was the most expensive of the three and made the least amount of money.)
If they were to do an MCU Haslab would Giant-Man be the best first choice?
@h-bird I don't even know. And I honestly can't think of anything in the MCU, so far, that would tempt me to go for a Haslab. I kinda figured once Galactus shows up, that would be a no brainer, but I'm still not sure I would put up the money for something I don't even have a place to display it.
I know things like the Avengers Quinjet (either from Avengers or Age of Ultron I guess) or the Leviathans from Avengers and Endgame have been mentioned by fans, but I'm not sure how well either would do.
I wouldn't be into it, but maybe a Quinjet in 4" scale, with the tiers being super articulated 4" scale Avengers from the first movie? I dunno. Part of me is grateful there isn't anything in the MCU that seems Haslabby aside from a large Scott Lang. And part of me would like a large Scott Lang, but then the collection kinda becomes about Scott Lang. And that's not my life.
I hope they learned from G.I. Joe and Transformers and they keep the price down.
I can't shake the feeling that they're making a HasLab despite not having a reason to make one. Like, Hasbro said "Legends Team, you're up" and they started looking around for something in their Avengers celebration that would work.
Giant-Man seems the obvious choice, but I'm skeptical that people would rather have a $300, 30" Giant-Man then a $60, 12" one.

I agree with you, but I'm sure Hasbro and its shareholders are banking on profits from Marvel HasLabs every year.

Thanks, forgot about that! Nevermind, seems clear it's a comic Giant-Man.
Frankly I don't see how giant man, either comic or MCU, would be popular enough to drive a successful Haslab project.

Yeah I think that tease is the reason comic Giant-Man became the main theory, whereas before everyone was assuming Foom was the next most obvious big guy. Whatever it is I hope they took the lessons of last year to heart and really make sure the value is there in the base product.

Fin Fang Foom would be lucky to get past 3000 backers, and I'd take a bet on it never passing 1500. I know the figure is desirable, but that's mostly due to the low supply. You've got to pretty hardcore like all of us here are to even know who the character is. And even most of the hardcores wouldn't have enough attachment to him to pay $300+ or really anywhere close to that amount.
It seems weird to me but could it be both MCU and classic? You figure they're gonna keep the price around $300 and I think they're gonna have a lot of trouble convincing folks to fork over that kind of cash for a giant Giant-Man. And for what? I doubt there'd be electronics. Might work better for two 15- or 20-inch figs and a bunch of 6-inchers.
If it's just another 30-inch figure, I already don't want him. I can't display the sentinel and Galactus at the same time as it is. And that size is just too big to stand him with the other Avengers.
Hell, I only have Stilt-Man displayed with two sets of legs and packed away the other two sets because he was too tall over the other figures. I have the Toy Biz BAF Giant-Man and think that 12-inch height is pretty good for my purposes.
I also wonder if it couldn't be some kind of Avengers mansion display piece — or maybe Giant-Man and a display piece.
Frankly I don't see how giant man, either comic or MCU, would be popular enough to drive a successful Haslab project.
From here on out that idea applies to almost everything they could make.
A Quinjet or Blackbird might squeak by if they keep the base limit down pretty low, i.e. to 4K or 5K backers, but neither one would pass 10K--they're both too big and too expensive. But I also wouldn't be surprised if neither one funded because sixth scale is just too big for large items like vehicles or dinosaurs. There's an audience, but it's small. Even most of us here wouldn't buy either one because of the space requirements.
Giant-Man almost certainly would fund, but he wouldn't do anywhere close to Sentinel or Galactus numbers so they'd have to keep the base and tier thresholds much lower than the ones on Sentinel and Galactus. I wouldn't be surprised if Giant-Man is the last successful Marvel Haslab unless they start scaling down to smaller ones at the $100 to $200 level like a Punisher van. But then again I might have thrown the Hellcharger in as a possible $100 to $200 item until they offered one up for $350... 😱 I'm sure it was worth that based upon the detailing they did, but a Hellcharger or Punisher van isn't a core item to Marvel and their superheroes, so they learned you can't do super-duper-deluxe smaller items and charge big prices for them. If you're going to do smaller items then they need to keep the price smaller as well.
I'm expecting a $400 price point with the primary offering being Giant Man standing slightly shorter than the Sentinel. The price will be higher just based upon inflation alone. I'm expecting an early bird offer of an alternate head and tiers of First Appearance Wasp and Yellowjacket (although not sure whether Hank or Rita). It wouldn't surprise me at all if they have a final tier of either Edwin Jarvis or civilian Rick Jones (as tie in to the Avengers 60th).
The Toy Biz Giant Man is considered by many to be perhaps the best BAF ever, so I don't think it's a slam dunk that what I described above would actually fund -- but it's probably more likely than Fin Fang Foom or anything else that I can think of at that high of a price point. I also don't see them offering something significantly cheaper because of the licensing fees they have to pay to Disney. GI Joe and Transformers are different because Hasbro owns those brands outright. We've heard Dwight say a couple of different times now that if either Galactus or the Sentinel were to be made today, they'd have to be around the $550 price point. My expectation is that $299 is probably the absolute bottom price we should ever expect on a Marvel HasLab offering and that would likely have to be something with about half the plastic and tooling costs of what we've seen up to up this point.
I expect the announcement to occur at Pulse Con.
The Ultron tease in that post of 1 of 7 has me second guessing myself though and wondering if they would really throw another Ultron into the HasLab (Pymtron? Gold repaint?) rather than something like I speculated about above. Watch them do something completely off the rails and unexpected and do like a 20" Ultron as the HasLab itself.... LOL! Or something else completely unexpected could be something like a giant classic Masters of Evil boxset.... a series of 7 posts could hint at something exactly like that with a different villain lurking in the background of each like Ultron was in this one.... Also imagine how mad people would be if it turned out that Vision that they showed at SDCC was a tier for the upcoming HasLab. If it was then I really doubt that we would have seen it already, but I think some people would have a meltdown!!
