Hello All!

Finally have the 85th Anniversary Ghost Rider in hand!  Long story short,  canceled with Entertainment Earth after almost two months of waiting, when I saw it in Stock on Hasbro Pulse!  Had it within a week, and they shipped via FedEx to arrive on a Sunday,  so I was elated!  Very Pleased to finally have a proper Hasbro 90's Danny/Noble Kale, but unfortunately with a few caveats...

I should preface my review with some context,  however!  I have been a Danny GR fan since issue #1 of the 90's title, and followed the entire run, along with all other subsequent appearances up until the conclusion of the "Heaven's on Fire" arc in his brother Johnny Blaze's own book!  He's also tied with Moon Knight in my all-time favorite comic-characters in Marvel,  and in my top five all-time comic-character favorites in general,  so I feel comfortable objectively reporting on my opinion,  lol.

First and in my mind, most glaringly obvious,  he's somehow scaled slightly on the small side!  I am well aware that Dwight felt the three prior Blaze Ghost Rider figures were "off" in his mind, understandable seeing as how they were made on the long-outdated, "Return of Marvel Legends" Starlord body,  also used for the A.I.M Scientists!  But honestly,  Both of the Blaze and Ketch GR's are generally drawn in the 6'2 range of height at minimum,  so really that height and width works well for both characters! But unfortunately,  this figure comes in at the barely 6-foot range based on even the lean and lanky "Sunfire" buck! Also along these lines, his overall proportions seem... almost puny, especially alongside the aforementioned Sunfire body, or even the Spidey-UK and Vulcan bodies! He's drawn in the comics as someone at least as tall and broad as Captain America, and clad in tight leather,  jeans and biker-boots, so in my eyes, he could definitely be bulkier!  Even his "fist"-hand seems tiny,  and standing him next to the new Jack O'Lantern,  he seems significantly slight!  I will however give tons of credit to the texturing, spikes, and attention to detail on the body!  I don't even mind the reuse of the skull from the Blaze versions, but I would have dug a slightly larger, more flared flame-sculpt, personally.  I am totally fine with the chain re-use, and was pleased that they actually sculpted a new and accurate "chest-chain"!

Moving on to the cycle,  it's quite nice! I appreciate the textures and paint-apps, love the flame add-ons, and the movable foot-rest and sliding ram-windshield!  My only issue here is the curious open "eye"-headlight,  as I have no recollection of it EVER being drawn this way!  I plan to "fix" it with translucent orange acrylic sheets,  but have to ask... Why?

I Absolutely don't mean to sound picky! I just know that in all likelihood,  This is probably the only version of that particular GR that we may ever get, and so I wish that it had been just slightly better.  Still love it and Glad and Grateful to have it though! Now PLEASE make his baddies like Scarecrow,  Blackout and Deathwatch, and Madcap! Lilith, Orb and Blackheart are great starts, but we need MORE!😁

Truer words were never spoken! These three are front of mind for me lately with all the 90s Ghost Rider love we've been seeing in the line.

I maintain that a 90s Johnny Blaze and motorcycle with a soft goods trenchcoat would be an amazing way to introduce wired cloth into the line.

So what you're saying is.....they must redo Blaze in proper scale??  Vengeance and Blackheart will look more imposing.  I saw the Toy Shiz review and was surprised he was so diminutive, but to be fair the dude is a skeleton.  I read those comics and he was big, but at least the figure looks beautiful. I generally focus on sculpt over size and this guy works for me.  Just a matter of my budget - Marvel Legends was not in my budgeting plans for years, but now have to figure out Odin, Hulkbuster and this guy.  2025 is a good list for me as well.

Oh, would love a retro wave, that 90s line was bomb.  btw Ketch is a rumored Mafex.

@ditko Essentially so, lol... it's just so odd, from a scale perspective! Especially in the boots and calves, and his feet, which are somehow narrower than the typical "sock or boot" feet, on both the Sunfire and Old Buckycap bodies!  If Vengeance is (ideally) built on a Hercules or new Hyperion-buck, he'll basically dwarf him!
