Hey Admins... @ibentmyman-thing
Can we PLEASE send this thread away and merge it with the movie thread as previously mentioned? As @panthercult said, this thread is all over the place. ...and this is only in response to the teaser trailer.
No offense to the thread conversation participants but, there really should be a single thread devoted solely to the action figures here in this section of the forum. I for one, have very little interest in discussing or reading about the minutiae involved with the casting and production of MCU endeavors. And, if/when I do have the urge, I can go visit that section of the site.
Just a thought.
I dunno, this thread is titled for the movie and legends figures, which I took to mean figures strictly from the movie. We have nothing to discuss about movie figures yet, so it's focused more on the movie discussion part of the title. I see you started a comic-figure thread so that probably should save a lot of anxiety for some. It's a discussion I have nothing to add to, so I'll keep out of that one.
It's also titled 'Movie and Legends' under the The Unofficial Marvel Toy Board forum header. If there are no toys to talk about then the thread about them shouldn't exist at all. It's just dumb to not put stuff where it belongs.
And since we're still all over the place, the Byrne FF run is the single-greatest body of work Marvel comics has produced, with the proviso that I consider stuff created by a single writer/artist to be a fundamentally better artistic creation than a team writer + artist product. That dude did so much with he was given he nearly reinvented the entire MU, and gave us the realization that Sue wasn't the 'dead weight' of the team but actually the backbone and strongest combatant of them all. For similar reasons but having half-as-many issues I rank Simonson's run on Thor as #2. The Ordway issues at the end of the Byrne run are good but lack the same 'snap'.
For specifically FF runs, the WaidRingo run def comes in 2nd; then Simonson, then Hickman who I've admittedly not read in total. I'll have to check out this Slott run being mentioned. Why do y'all like the Slott run?
See? It's fun and it's easy to just have a conversation, let it flow. No need to be so rigid.
Why are you being so rigid in not caring? This thread in the Toy forum is on its 7th page with not a single word about the actual toys we'll get from this movie while the movie thread is on its 15th post. How many DC fans are missing out on learning about a new-to-them property and its coolness because they weren't smart enough to hunt for it in the place it's not supposed to be? Why are you in favor of *decreased* exposure to something you say you like?
Why are you being so rigid in not caring?
I see myself as the opposite of rigid here, so I'm not sure how to answer that.
This thread in the Toy forum is on its 7th page with not a single word about the actual toys we'll get from this movie while the movie thread is on its 15th post.
I think there have been several words about the possibilities of the toys we'll get in this thread, which seems in line with the countless speculation threads, wishlists, and polls on this forum. Comic collectors get to have all sorts of threads, I don't see the issue here.
Unfortunately, and I say that with total sincerity, the movie threads are just NOT as popular as the figure threads. There's several people in here I'd love to join in on several discussions we've had over there, but they don't. I don't know why, but that's how it is.
How many DC fans are missing out on learning about a new-to-them property and its coolness because they weren't smart enough to hunt for it in the place it's not supposed to be?
DC fans? And are you saying they've not heard of Fantastic Four? And that this thread weaving through a discussion completely related to the Fantastic Four is going to turn them off to it? Is it this thread's job to single handedly market the Fantastic Four movie to newbs? I honestly don't grasp your point here.
Why are you in favor of *decreased* exposure to something you say you like?
How is talking about it decreasing exposure? Again, a lot of people just don't go the movie threads. I don't know how to change that, so I'm talking about the movie where the people are. Apparently the people who do frequent the movie threads only have 15 posts-worth for now.
I appreciate your stance, but I still fail to see how this conversation has done any harm.
But speaking of short, I'm very much hoping that despite Galactus' apparently huge size, they decide to make a figure more accessible to casual fans that want one after seeing the movie. Say, an 11-12" version that would fit on my shelf.
I'm right there with you. I'm rocking this 12" Heroclix (sans stand) that actually fits in my display case.
The Hickman run is my favorite FF run. It's one of my favorite superhero comics, period.
On the subject of toys:
Hello all! Here is the rumor/leak list as of 11/18/2024.
This is a compilation of everything we've seen/heard so far, mostly from Displaying Model Behavior (DMB) and Marvelous News.
Some may be accurate, some may be totally false, but I'm listing everything anyways.
I'll update this list when new info is available.
I've already crossed off figures the Hasbro Team have shown.
Thanks to @fingfangfoom for the compiled list posted today.
MCU
Fantastic Four Wave
Mr. Fantastic
Invisible Woman
Human Torch
Thing
Silver Surfer (Shalla-Bal)
Franklin Richards & H.E.R.B.I.E.
Other MCU Offerings
Galactus (made-to-pre-order, 27 inches tall)
Sadly that Galactus is about 15" too tall for me.
I could be in for Thing depending on the costume and articulation.
@tsi I hear you. I no longer have somewhere to put a Galactus, no matter what size he is. But... depending on price, and how he looks... maybe I could redo my shelves...
Another gigantic made to order Galactus feels like a big risk, even if it will be an MCU-specific one. I'll be interested to see if that pans out.
Well your dog doesn't need to have a clue about their gender to clearly have one so I don't see why your dog wouldn't be considered a he or a she.
The point is that the human is choosing the term for the *human's* benefit/ease.
There are male dogs and female dogs for the purposes of procreation, same as humans. They reproduce, they nurse their young. And all this goes into your reasoning for using 'he/her' for your dog? Do you stop using those terms once they're neutered/spayed? Do you think we humans use gendered terms for ships and cars (and guns and swords and rail cannons and...) because they fuck?
I do agree that humans use the terms for "ease". I personally find the concept of male and female quite easy. I would also (and have) refer to my female dog as "she" even though she was spayed.
But again, I also agree that referring to guns, swords etc as "she" or "he" is a strange concept. We humans are weird.
Anyway, as far as toys, if Hasbro brings their A game to the figures I'll be down for at least the four main characters. I'm excited for the movie and even though I'm not a HUGE FF guy, I recognize their importance in the Marvel U. If I have MCU Avengers and Spider-Man and GOTG in my collection, I'm definitely going to need MCU FF.
Yeah - I definitely won't be ordering a new 27" movie Galactus. I have my HasLab Galactus and he is glorious I can't imagine needing another.
I do think it's good that the rumored movie figure wave is entirely movie figures - that shows faith in the performance of the movie. It helps that the team has a larger cast to fill out a wave (like GotG and Eternals) rather than Ant Man or Captain Marvel who split waves because the costumed character options were limited. I do wonder about the wisdom of a movie related Franklin Richards figure - even with HERBIE included seems less than ideal. Especially when it could have been an MCU Malkovich Red Ghost figure instead... who doesn't want a Malkovich action figure?????
From that list, I'd likely only buy the Shalla-Bal Silver Surfer. I'm hoping for Alicia Masters and Red Ghost!
@panthercult Well... as I posted in the movie discussion thread for discussing the movie...
