Also, DO NOT WANT Angel's (or Cyclops', for that matter) graduation suit on a Vulcan-sized body. Way too big. The Spider-Man Amazing Fantasy base body would be much more appropriate to re-work for pre-Giant-Sized versions of Cyclops and Angel.

Other Hasbro lines have been using the swivel/crunch combo for years. Lots of years. Star Wars has the body Mara Jade uses, that was first used on Jaina Solo or the Battlefront 2 pilot chick. Dr. Aphra uses it as well. That body has been out for a long time and it has it. Not sure about too many other star wars figures. But, their Power Rangers line has been using it since its inception. They have 2 basic bucks they use for the majority of the rangers, and they all have it. Most of the unique tooled characters also have it. Power Rangers have been out for a good long while now. I own 1 GI Joe figure from the new scale, and it doesn't have it. So I don't know if Joe's do or not. But it has been available to them for a long time, so not tooling it into a new figure that they just recently came out with is probably a design choice. The Sunfire body was probably too far along for that poa, but Vulcan is well after.

And those Sunfire legs are the next on my "to retire" list.

Angel really needs diaphragm movement. Couldn't the wings be attached to the upper torso and work just fine?

Yes. The King in Black Venom has has the diaphragm joint and wings.

It was probably easier for them to retool the body this way for whatever reason.

I've been harping on the idea that Marvel Legends is lagging behind Hasbro's other lines in the articulation department for a few years now. While missing the ideal double torso articulation, Vulcan was a huge improvement on Bucky Cap. The deluxe Widow was also shocking (in a good way). We're not far removed from all female figures having single-jointed elbows, so getting one with double-jointed elbows, the correct torso articulation, and butterfly joints was a huge step in the right direction.

RYV Spidey should be the gold standard. I think Hasbro must've had re-use like Angel in mind when they designed Vulcan because I see little other reason to use an ab crunch instead of the double torso articulation. It could also be that someone (or multiple someones) on the team prefers the ab crunch and reserves the double torso articulation for acrobats like Spidey, Toad, and Black Widow.

Personally I don't want to start seeing so much articulation in figures that the sculpt starts to suffer, making them end up looking like marionettes again (like I've always called the ToyBiz figures). I'd rather keep a happy medium. But I admit that's just my own preference.

He also comes with a lot less than the deluxe Archangel from a few years ago. That figure came with three extra heads and the Apocalypse claw accessory.

Archangel figure was a simple rerelease with a new feet and fists. Those head sculpts were reuse (Blizzard, Adam Warlock...so nothing new). Apocalypse claw accessory was the only good thing.

This Angel figure has a new Head sculpts, new torso and new Wings. I'm surprised they didn't ask for more, knowing their business practices.

I would argue it might have been more cost effective to do away with those POA than any engineering/design challenges with incorporating the wings.

Toynewsi has in hand pictures of Warren and I don't know what is happening with his relaxed/open hands. They look massive compared to his fists and body in general. Otherwise, it looks good.

these are the same massive hands that came with Vulcan, and most figures that use that body. Vision has them too. I don’t like Angel on this body. I’d have preferred the Barnes Cap body to be consistent with Archangel or the Sunfire body. Vulcan seems too big, or Archangel also needs to be remade on that body.

I could not find a trace of that story on TNI.  However, I did find it on Marvelous News.  They describe it coming from SBToys.

The hands are indeed huge.  Plus it looks like they have fingernails? I was pretty jazzed up for this figure but, to be honest, I'm not sure I'm liking what I see.

It is too bad about the giant open hands... but I think I have a few spare Mr. Fantastic arms floating around, those have white gloved open hands - maybe those will fit better

I think the white color is also emphasizing them and making them look bigger. I’ve gotten used to them on Vision, but I’m still not used to Angel on this body to begin with.
