Yes, but do you have any OTHER examples??
Well, now that I think about it ... didn't Peter Parker and Matt Murdock reveal their secret ID's to each other in Spectacular Spider-Man 110?
But One More Day probably wiped all that out.
😉

That time he revealed his identity to the entire world shown below seems relevant. 😎
I believe Doctor Strange made almost everyone forget about this in kinda the same way he did in No Way Home, although I think he made MJ immune to the spell. So that list of everyone he's told from the comics got reset after Civil War.
Wait wait wait wait... you're telling me Peter Parker is Spider-Man?
Ehhh. The situations in the MCU Spidey films re: Tony and Peter may have resonance in comic stories, but so does Superman with an ant for a head, and that would be lame to base a movie around as well. You can justify pretty much anything with “it was in the comics” if the character has been around enough. Personally, I want to see Pete as a bootlicking child-soldier conscript about as much as I want to see him yell at Vietnam war protestors.
Anyway: can’t wait for this wave.
Here's the thing about that though - the Raimi movies already did that story you are interested in. The MCU didn't want to just do the same story over again - so they pulled stories from a different, more modern, possibly more relevant to a younger audience(?) set of stories to present a fresh take on the character rather than rehash the same story that had been put on film 15 years earlier. I understand why that's not the Spider-Man you prefer - but that doesn't mean it isn't a valid, comic accurate depiction of Spider-Man.
Additionally, the Holland version of Spider-Man was relevant to the other happenings in the MCU at the time - namely Civil War. The Spider-Man they gave us was very accurate to the Civil War era Spider-Man from the comics.
The good news for you, maybe, is that there is now a multiverse at the MCU's disposal, so they can do a more true to his comic origins Spider-Man set of stories eventually in an alternate dimension eventually. Or they may just introduce Miles Morales in the MCU and do the fresh faced street level story with him instead.
It does seem like this wave may be on us much faster than initially anticipated. That could be fun.
To be fair, I didn’t like the Raimi movies either, and I’m not much for the MCU period: I like some of it, but the “whole” is lesser than the sum of *some of* its parts in my view, and the portrayal of Tony Stark is bar none the worst part as far as I am concerned, so associating Spidey so closely with him feels . . . well, gross, and also all the films wind up being “team up” films, which is fine but exhausting and it feels like there has never been an actual focus on Peter ALONE except for *some* of Homecoming. The only Spidey movie I *like* just on its own merits *as a Spidey movie* is Amazing Spider-man, and only the first one. I think we have yet to see a truly great Spidey film, and when we do it will be more iconic in its themes than the very specific and niche storytelling that has been used the the MCU-adjacent films. I hope when that happens, it is in its own continuity entirely and is not enslaved to a “larger multiverse” or “being different”.
We shall see.
Also: jeeeeezus I sure hope following an abusive billionaire sociopath around like a fawning golden retriever is NOT something young folks these days can relate to. Gross to the MAX.

I mean... Elon Musk does have his devoted followers, so...
Heh. Discussion for another time, but some folks in my field absolutely draw a line from pop culture “hero” representations like MCU Tony toward the normalization of accepting unscrupulous folks with loud opinions and lots of money into positions of power . . .
Alan Moore made that same observation and it's certainly one worth pondering. Are we as a society being trained not to stand-up and save ourselves?
Another point worth mentioning is the fact that Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time is one of the most beautiful pop songs ever recorded.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but this scene is from a film made in 1981 and it was not a revolutionary sentiment at the time:
(of course Andre would point to the 60's as the last great burst of humanity, he was 26 in 1960 and shows that classic bias people in middle age tend to have towards the time of youth being a better, more pure and vibrant time, when really it was just the time when they were just becoming more aware, the end of the 60s wasn't any more the end of history than today is, but it's hard to see that when you don't look hard at previous eras)
My Dinner with Andre reference on the action figure board? Criterion Collection squad represent.
Meanwhile, movies like 1978's Blue Collar would be seen as pushing the envelope today. Time is a flat circle, etc.

I like artsy fartsy movies and little plastic supermen. I contain multitudes 🙂
So new question: anyone finding creative solutions in using these lenticular shields for anything useful? I don't want them as shields and I don't want to throw them away.
Ideas?
