If we’re just editing the list, I’m pretty sure Harley Quinn is more popular than any other female DC besides Wonder Woman.
Good call! I knew the Trinity was missing someone. 🙂
I love Marvel cosmic stuff, and it bums me out the way the MCU has squandered concepts like Ego, the High Evolutionary, Eternity, and to a lesser extent the Celestials. 🙁
I didn't bother to watch GOTG 3 all the way through, but I don't even know why they included the High Evolutionary in that as it didn't even look like him, and he just seemed like a generic evil mad scientist.
All before the MCU debuted Tom Holland Spiderman I kept hearing from fellow Marvel fans how Disney was going to finally do Spiderman right. I've found the Tom Holland Spiderman films to probably be the least accurate to the comics of all time. Begging Daddy Stark to let you have the keys to the (car)/Spiderman costume for the weekend? Multiple people in his life who know his identity already? Every romantic connection in these films felt stilted and forced to me. So after years of hearing how much better Disney's Spiderman was going to be and fulfill all the fanboy expectations, I'm happier with the Sam Raimi films as corny as the third one was at times. I feel like fumbling Spiderman was the MCU's biggest transgression considering he's Marvel/Disney's biggest character. I'm sure some with point to ticket sales as the indicator of success, but when it's the least adherent interpretation to the comics, I think it misses the point of being a comic book movie if every detail of the character's life and history can be swapped out and discarded at the drop of a hat. Just my personal opinion.
I enjoy the movies and I sincerely hope that they keep coming and start to recover some of their recently lost shine of the brand. Even when they're not great, I still enjoy them more than much else due to my attachment to the characters. I'm to the point where I almost won't watch anything that isn't comic related anymore and I've personally boycotted watching any projects from Directors or actors that openly disparaged comic book or superhero movies. With that being said I know that this will only be one iteration and it's certainly destined to be rebooted. I don't personally think that anyone has nailed the Spider-Man role yet, but someone eventually will. Tom is my favorite of the 3 just because he's part of the bigger shared MCU universe. Someone else will be playing Peter Parker before too terribly long, of that I have no doubt and that's probably true of at least every A-lister and probably well beyond. Kevin Feige's first few phases of the MCU might end up being the most successful comic book movie run of all time, but it certainly won't be the last - even if the genre's popularity continues to fade. This is one of the main reasons that I generally don't buy movie figures because I know there will be a different actor playing the role at some point just like we've already had so many Batmans and Supermans in my lifetime.
I do think that James Gunn and Warner Bros picked a terrible time to try to start a new DCU universe though. Apathy and fatigue of the superhero movie genre is very high right now and Warner Bros has proven over and over again that they have no patience for a long term plan. I'm pretty sure that if the new Superman movie doesn't make at least $1 billion minimum right out of the gate that Mr. Gunn will be out on his rear-end pretty quickly (and I mostly enjoy his work).

Adding another name - Joker. I think he and Harley are up on the merchandise chain with Superman and Wonder Woman, with Batman on top of all of them.

You didn't bother to finish - why? That movie was extremely solid and emotionally fulfilling.
I think Gunn's Superman will be the best in the franchise since Reeves. The trailer looks great, Gunn gets it in my opinion and has positive buzz. Will it hit all the right numbers for WB?? We will see. But I remember they believed in Nolan's Batman Begins independent of gross and then that turned into a juggernaut trilogy. It could be people are fatigued with the MCU and will welcome a well done comic film.
Maybe not, we'll see but between FF and Superman I see some good ole' comic fun in 2025 at the movies.
@jtmarsh Schizm is right, GotG3 is one of the best Marvel movies. Watch it.

I'm having trouble resolving how those story points aren't accurate to the comics when they were all taken by the MCU straight from the comics. 🤔 Perhaps you mean not accurate to the comics from whatever time period you count as being "the comics"?

Totally agree - and it isn't even a matter of the comics changing to mimic what happened in the movies. Literally every one of those story beats happened in canon Marvel comics long before those movies came out. They were just from stories published in the early 2000's instead of the mid 1960's.

Which comic has the overweight Filipino kid who knows Peter's identity as Spiderman and serves as his personal Happy Hogan knock-off? Just for my own personal reference?
Ned is an adaptation of a Korean kid named Ganke, who is the roommate of Miles Morales in the Ultimate universe. They go to school together, but I can’t remember if Ganke knows about Miles’s identity and abilities. I think he does though. I'll throw in my two cents to the off topicness:
I thought the Holland Spider-Mans were fine. They went in a different direction than the other two iterations and that's what I wanted. I do think there was a bit too much "daddy Stark" initially, but that might be my only nit pick. I think nostalgia might force me to pick the Tobey Spider-Man as my favorite.
Aside from the Spider-Man movies, GOTG 3 might be the only phase 4 (phase 5? I really don't know) MCU movie that I'd be interested in watching again. I think that first GOTG came along at exactly the right time and had exactly the right tone to make it take off. Hot on the heels of the first Avengers, the MCU was in its heyday. A lot of people were completely unfamiliar with it and balked at it (my wife included) but ended up loving it.
I have high hopes for Superman. I think the core cast of Superman, Lois, and Lex looks on-point. Excited to see Krypto for the first time in the movies. Excited for the apparent lighter, more hopeful tone. Apprehensive about the inclusion of B and C list Justice League. I'm always ready to give a new take on Superman a shot. Bring it to me!

Yes, but do you have any OTHER examples??
Which comic has the overweight Filipino kid who knows Peter's identity as Spiderman and serves as his personal Happy Hogan knock-off? Just for my own personal reference?
Okay, I'll address this. Spider-Man first appeared in 1962. And like nearly every other comic, movie and TV show out at the time, Peter and his cast of characters were all white. The civil rights movement had started but it had not yet taken hold (although it was gaining traction). And then in 1967 Stan Lee, bless his heart, had decided enough was enough and he introduced Robbie Robertson.
I knew that, when studios started producing comic based movies, that they were going to race and gender swap characters. And I was fine with that. It's not 1962 anymore. Having more women and people of color in movies is just a reflection of what the world actually looks like. And it's cathartic for minority people to see someone who looks like them on the screen and on the page. I totally get that.
You are obviously correct when you state that, regardless of race and age, the Ned Leeds from the comics is a completely different character than the one in the MCU. It's real doubtful that the MCU Ned ever becomes the Hobgoblin, for example. But, as @normdapito says:
Ned is an adaptation of a Korean kid named Ganke, who is the roommate of Miles Morales in the Ultimate universe.
I don't know why they didn't just call him Ganke, but to me it doesn't matter. I think the Jon Watts directed Spider-Man trilogy has perfectly captured the spirit and essence of what makes Spider-Man such a beloved and iconic character. As you yourself pointed out, the box office would seem to bear that out. Spider-Man Far From Home is Sony's highest grossing movie in their history, and they've been making movies since they bought Columbia Pictures in 1989.
