I was working during the live stream and haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I've seen all the pictures.
Superior Iron Man -- Loved the story. Really dislike the figure. It's definitely not supposed to be white.
Ka-Zar -- Like someone suggested that Hasbro do, I'm just going to do myself. I'll get some scrap plastic/cloth/foam and put straps on his forearms to hide the glove line. I sold off my Savage Land set last year so I'm glad to have this.
Black Winter -- Not bad. Love the tattered cape. It looks thinner than most of the garbage plastic capes we usually get.
Ikarus -- What a uncommonly accurate representation by Hasbro. He looks like he just popped off the page.
Wolfsbane -- Nice to finally have her in plastic. I'm not well-versed in her costumes so I really have no opinion.
Red Widow -- Not familiar with the character at all. She looks cool. I dislike mismatched hands. Either give us two fists, or two gesturing hands. I don't like having one of each.
Cable -- I didn't have a desire for this outfit. He looks fantastic, but... No weapon storage?
Zabu -- Perfect. I didn't think we'd ever get another one. I really hope they release this as more than just a BAF.
Random to me would have been Steve Rogers Nomad (Cap/Avengers/wave anchor), Wolfsbane (X), Wizard (FF), Gargoyle (Strange/Defenders), Phyla-Vell (GOTG), Swarm (Spidey/Champions), Blackheart (GR) and BAF Orka (Namor) - a little bit of everything from all over the Marvel Universe.
I mean.... that wave would have been straight fire, so now I'm sad it doesn't exist. I would be so all over that specific line up. Where's that petition to put Beamish in charge of character selection for Legends?
So they're losing shelf space for legends that aren't tied to media, and the retailers just want exclusives and media related items... Not a good sign for the line, not saying its over, just that it's noteworthy
My best guess for why Shana is not part of this wave is that they are unable to release the good version of Shana we all want, she's going to be fully clothed when they do release her. And by then, we'll have already gotten this wave in anticipation for her. But if she was part of this wave and the massive disappointment we know she will be, then we might forgo this wave, because we really do want all three figures, in good form. If we're never going to get a good Shana, then a lot of us won't bother with Kazar and Sebu.
If the real reason was that they are going to make the good Shana we want, but need to release her as a Pulse exclusive, then they'd have shown it now alongside this wave, and apologize saying we wanted to include her in the retail wave but couldn't but it will be available for preorder as a Pulse exclusive at the same time.
Dwight pronouncing Ka-Zar like he just pulled a rabbit out of a hat.
"Alakazam...kaZAR!"
I was more surprised they didn't announce it was a fan channel/Amazon release during the fan stream.
The writing was on the wall after the last 2 comic BAF waves did not hit brick and mortar.
Honestly, I am fine with it, as it saves me money. No more picking up figures I don't really want just because I see them on the pegs and I'm craving some fresh plastic.
Hot take: Dwight pronounced Ka-Zar correctly.
Cable -- I didn't have a desire for this outfit. He looks fantastic, but... No weapon storage?
He's based on this, so no.
Wars have started over less, Thesa Meidiot.
It's not surprising that this is a Fan Channel exclusive - third wave in a row, so we should probably be expecting it. I think this, Mindless One, and the Void wave have all been very solid - I don't know *why* them being Fan Channel/more limited release would make the waves better, but I'm here for it.
I don't mind it at all when waves are Fan Channel only. Just means I don't have to waste time and gas going to stores I'd rather not anyway and finding squat when I get there.
Waves being Fan Channel exclusive are absolutely a response to the market. It looks terrible on Hasbro's part when mountains of their product are sold at clearance prices or found at discount chains. I think they've warned that production runs would be smaller. This is just another method for them to control pricing and perception of their offerings. That's not to say that you won't be able to find these figures on sale or on clearance. It'll just be less likely.
The way sales are on the decline from Hasbro these days, it's a miracle they're still finding a way to get figures out. This time next year, releases could be even more limited.
I've been paying attention to Amazon's prices on Mindless One and Void wave figures - a few of the Void wave are already above MSRP from third-party sellers because Amazon doesn't have them listed as in-stock. They come in and out, but even Namorita is higher, which makes me wonder if they really did cut down production. Didn't expect her to be a hot seller.
