I know Hasbro tries to work up to the most desirable version of each character, but I think they accidentally made my ideal Black Panther figure first. Priest totally redefined the character and I like that costume a lot, but I'm not replacing my Attuma wave figure. It's the perfect amalgamation of classic and modern.

This wave is a real winner for me!

Vision— While I love the metallic colors on the retro carded version of Vision, he always felt too small to me. This new Vision is what I always wanted. Looks fantastic.

Power Princess—Really nice to complete the modern Squadron Supreme. She looks superb. Best Wonder Woman figure ever.

Justice— I started reading Avengers when Justice and Firestar were on the team, so Justice has been essential to me for a long time. I’m not picky about the costume for him—this one looks cool.

Namor— Namor is a character who I love to hate. Always the obnoxious antagonist for Iron Man and a powerhouse character. I’m always going to get any figure of Namor. I’m not familiar with this costume off the top of my head, but it looks cool. I would have preferred pinless limbs. I still want a figure of Namor’s modern costume with the black armor on the arms.

Namorita—This is actually my preferred costume and look for her. I think the blue skin is just more visually interesting and makes for a more dynamic looking character design. Looks like a really nice figure with a great head and hair sculpt and excellent articulation.

Black Panther—The Vulcan base body is perfect for Panther, and I love the black and gold of this costume. This is a must-have.

Crystar— I don’t know much about this character, but he has an extremely toyetic design. Looks super fun. I love translucent figures.

BAF Void— As I wrote before, the entire New Avengers story and especially the culmination of Dark Avengers and Siege made me a big fan of Sentry and the Void. I was thrilled to get the Walgreens Sentry figure, and now I’m very happy to get Void. I never expected that we’d get such an accurate version of Void in his full on demonic fiery form with all the extra arms. He looks like a really fun figure. I really need an updated Iron Patriot now.

Altogether, it’s a very strong wave for me.

Void is a very cool BAF, and unexpected - I think they really take joy in dropping unexpected figures into these waves. Having recently reread a bunch of the Avengers books from Disassembled to Dark Reign it's cool to get something from that run! They're slowly getting a few of those "modern era" figures out (Extremis, Sentry) but there's so much more to do! I really, really want to see some Dark Avengers, Ronin, Echo, and some of the other Avengers from around that time.

I appreciate you calling Void (first appearance 2000) and Extremis (first appearance 2005) modern so I don't feel so goddamn old. I remember people discussing Void/Sentry when I first joined the Fwoosh in '05.

Ha yeah I guess we'll have to update the terminology sooner or later, but everything post 2000-ish is "modern" to me. Sentry/Void being retconned in doesn't save them!

When it comes to Avengers, I consider everything from Bendis's New Avengers #1 from 2005 onwards is 'modern'.

To me, Lionheart is the last 'classic' member and Disassembled is the last 'classic' storyline.

But that's just my opinion.

I agree with this. For Marvel in general post-2000 is a decent catchall date - for example, Morrison's New X-Men started in 2001 which feels like a solid delineation point for the "modern" X-Men. But for Avengers specifically there is a clear divide at the point of Avengers Disassembled, which does indeed make Lionheart the last "classic" Avenger.

If there's one bigger grouping (as opposed to a discrete team/lineup) I want to complete in ML more than any other it's the classic Avengers. We're not *that* far away (setting aside some of the more obscure reserve members) but a few like Lionheart and Silverclaw seem like long shots at best. I'm happy to have Justice coming to add to that number - here's hoping they keep making progress!

Yeah I loved that era of Avengers. From New Avengers to Civil War, Mighty Avengers, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Dark Avengers to Siege. It was an epic ride at the time. Happy to get more figures from that time.

Well let's see:

Namor -  Don't know this look for him.  From a time when I wasn't reading his comics, or many comics in general.  The black pants look like a paint mistake to my eye.

Black Panther - I still need to get a Black Panther in my collection, but I think I like the last release the most.  Might pick him up on sale though.

Power Princess - This is a great looking figure and a great way to finish up the Squadron Supreme.  Too bad I haven't picked up the other 2-packs so far.  Pass unless on sale.

Namorita - Nice to see her, not nice to see her in this look.  Worse still they openly admit they know we want her classic look.  I get the game, but I don't have to like it.  She is a pass for me since she is from a time when I wasn't reading.

Justice - Love the look, but not my most wanted version.  Still a good figure and I'll probably bite on sale

Vision - Now we're talking.  I only have White Vision so this will be perfect for me to add to my Avengers for a classic looking Vision.

Crystar - As a child of the 80s (and 70s) he was on my radar, but not anywhere near the top.  Still I do have memories of him and his comic.  I love the look of him and this figure so he'll be an easy pick up.

Void - I have always hated the Void.  I get they had to nerf Sentry, but the whole neuroses thing was stupid to me, and the void even more so.  The look of the BAF does nothing for me so I'm good with passing.

Yep, there really aren't that many classic Avengers left to make.

Not counting alternate costumes:

1960's Swordsman

1970's Mantis and Two-Gun Kid

1980's Starfox, Dr. Druid, Firebird, Jim Hammond Human Torch, Demolition Man and Gilgamesh

1990's Stingray and Living Lightning

2000's Jack of Hearts, Triathlon, Silverclaw and Lionheart

Namorita's less-iconic version is almost predictable at this point.

Yep.  They might as well have announced a classic New Warriors box set after revealing the Void wave, because we all know that’s where this is going.  I still don’t agree with that particular aspect of Hasbro’s business model, but in this case, it’s really not an issue for me because I’ll buy as many versions of Namorita as they care to release.

I'd really like to see a late '80s/early '90s Quasar with the headband, too.

And a big yes to all the rest.

I'll probably pick up Justice and Namorita when they go on sale as I tend to collect mutant figures, aside from the fact that I've been collecting New Warriors characters in the hope they eventually make Bolt and the rest of the New Warriors from vol. 2.

As someone who likes the classic looks for my Marvel characters, the only figure figure in this wave I would even consider is the Vision. But since I actually prefer the metallic version we got on the Retro Card, this entire wave is a big pass. Which is perfectly fine with me, since I just dropped a bunch of bread buying several Avengers 2-Packs on clearance at Target. Wallet could use a breather.

So who would be in the New Warriors boxset? Because now with Namorita and Justice they've released everyone already! Five figs - go!

Vision and Justice continue to look good, but I'll take the opportunity to once again point out the shin cuts through their boots/boot details.

You know...I'm going to argue that shin cuts in general are completely unnecessary and should be done away with all together.  The calf swivel and the knee bend give you all the articulation that an actual human has on the leg, we can't sever our shins and when I see it on an action figure, particularly one with bare legs, it's jarring.  I NEVER use it.  Get it out!

As for the wave, I thought I would be selling off my retro Vision to exchange for this, but you know what, now I'm not so sure.  I'm down for Crystar.  The rest are a pass.

This wave is a pretty big win for me. The only real clunker is Namorita, and not because the figure is bad, she just doesn’t scream “Namorita” in that short-lived look. I don’t even have any real connection to The Void, but hot damn that’s just a wild, fun demon-looking thing and I’m here for it; also love the clever re-use of movie Venom parts. And that Black Panther is the regal hotness, I’ve always loved that look and it’s executed so well here. If I remember right, the gold was inked very bright on that costume so the coloring works for me, although I might hit parts of it with a darker wash.

I would like to note that depending on the length and whether the clasp can be swapped out (looks like it can), that Panther’s high-collared cape might just be yet another ready piece for the classic Dracula that is long overdue.

Solid list! Add Crystal as well, who you probably only forgot because it's absolutely nuts she hasn't been made yet. Otherwise I don't see anyone who is missing outside of honorary members. I'd love to get those characters as well, but filling out the main roster is the priority.

For fun, here's a list of honorary Avengers:

 - Rick Jones

 - Guardians of the Galaxy (the OG team)

 - Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell)

 - Marrina

 - Shroud

 - Moira Brandon

 - Whizzer

 - Teen Tony

 - Magdalene & Swordsman (Earth-921)

 - Yellowjacket (Rita DeMara)

 - Deathcry

 - Masque

Not a thing there I wouldn't pick up if made, to be honest.

I don't know that I'd miss it on most figures, but where they have a perfect place to hide it (like oh, say, a mid-length boot) it's maddening that they don't just make the proper piece and instead put a line right through it!
