Anyone RSVP the Hot Toys comics Spider-Man?  I'm currently #2,022 in the digital queue.  If I manage to get the opportunity to buy, I hope it's under $350 or I'm out.

Looking forward to the "inexpensive" Hot Toys brand.

Update: sounds like $340 at 2K pieces for US.

...and bought $383 after shipping and tax.  Long sigh.  I always buy somewhere else besides directly from Sideshow.  I can't believe they need to charge more for a double box at these prices.

I can't buy Hot Toys or Sideshow for so, so many reasons, and none of them are price.  Long story short is they don't articulate much and the materials degrade too easily in anything but a vanilla pose.  I really wanted one of their Ashoka figures, but they all have that fake skin over the joints that tears if left in poses.  I watched Displaying Model Behavior's review of this Spidey figure you're referring to, and yep, terrible articulation with fabric that doesn't look durable.

I like Mondo a bit more, but they also don't articulate well so I think I'm done with them.

I can speak highly of the Marvel Legends sixth scale figures from 2016 to 2019 though.  The Wolverine they did in that line is one of Hasbro's best Marvel action figures ever made.  It's pretty much the 1:12 scale Love Triangle figure scaled up in size with a LOT more details.  LOVE LOVE LOVE that figure, it's absolutely superb with full articulation that is just as durable as the smaller figures.

I’m not a 1/6 collector but the Iron Spider and comic release today were must haves. I’m hoping we don’t see a McFarlane / Larsen Venom or I would end up with another.

Even with terrible articulation these things are just THAT gorgeous in hand and this comic release was worth it for me. But that price…. Cheaper than importing from what I could see.

Looking forward to the release….

@enigmaticclarity We don't call it Vanilla Pose, we say "Museum Pose" 😉 .  I've had a slight uptick in 1/6 buys this year, but I often stay away for the same reasons you gave.  Usually I try to stick to figures that have more durable appearing outfits, however, I did buy Clone Wars and Mando Ahsoka and Wonder Woman 84 this year.  I definitely would've preferred jointed Ahsoka bodies, but I did have good luck with the Arnold bodies until I recently sold them.  The worst issue I've had with Hot Toys was a Bale Batman.  His elbow and hip joint seemed to break down inside the suit and I have an Anne Hathaway with bit of pleather peeling on her boots.

I almost forgot, I may have dodge a disaster this year with the third party Rogue.  Some people received a figure with her belt sticking to the outfit, causing the surface to peel away.  Mine is fine so far.  I made a cloth barrier to tuck between the belt and outfit.

Here's a couple Medicom figures I sold this year for less than half I originally paid.

How do you feel about your Ahsokas?  The two you bought are the two I considered for many months but just couldn't pull the trigger on due to the skin overlay.  Really I'm still considering them because every time I think about them or see them I start wondering again if I should nab them.  🤩   The only problem place I noticed on both figures were the bare elbows, although the poor articulation as compared to twelfth scale figures is always too bitter a pill to swallow so far.

@enigmaticclarity I like them a lot, no regrets with the purchase.  I do prefer Rosario's version with the looser fitting cloth goods and thankfully, the outfit seems to mostly be made of worry free materials.  Shortly after I got her, Hot Toys announced "The White" version.  That would be something to think about before buying the first release.  The newer Ahsoka will likely have a better likeness plus two  portraits.

Hot Toys seamless joints do feel kind of stiff compared to a jointed body and TBleague seamless bodies.  Tbleague 1/6 might have the most posable figure of anything available.  If Hot Toys lacks ROM, it makes up for it in appearance.  The areas of visible skin around the neck, collarbone, and shoulder looks quite a bit better than Tbleague.

I thought I had RSVP'd that Spider-Man, but I guess I didn't.  It doesn't matter too much anyway.  It's probably better that I saved the money this time of year.
