Top 5: Most Wanted Battlefront II Inspired Figures for Black Series

With the NYCC announcement of the Imperial Rocket Trooper from Battlefront II and Rebels as a Gamestop exclusive, I’ve been daydreaming about other possible characters from Battlefront II making their way to the Black Series. Click through for my Top 5 Most Wanted Battlefront II inspired Figures for the Black Series!

Battlefront II has had it’s detractors, and I get the arguments, but I absolutely loved playing the story mode and enjoy an occasional online bought or split screen fight against my kids. The graphics are incredibly immersive and really laser focus in on something that I particularly like about Star Wars, the troops. As a collector who loves troop building, I’d love to see more Battlefront II inspired figures in the Black Series line.

To start off, I usually like to have a couple runners up to the top 5 and my first one today is the weapons of Battlefront II. Sometimes I feel like a Black Series figure is a little light on accessories, but I can’t really think of an appropriate accessory that was missing. The MOTU line was good at accessorizing characters with different Filmation artifacts and weapons to fill out those blister cards and I think the Black Series could do some of the same. For example,  they could add a DLT-19X sniper rifle to the Scout Trooper or Lando’s X-8 Nightsniper to General Lando when they get around to him. I’d really love the CR-2 because that’s a weapon I’ve used a ton in the game.

Secondly, I’d love it if Hasbro eventually took another crack at Inferno Squad. I actually do think the Inferno Squad troopers we got were nice figures, but they do wear some different gear in the game including Stormtrooper chest armor. I’d love unmasked head sculpts, you could even make a (SPOILER) scarred Gideon in the FO uniform.

Del Meeko uses the sniper rifle and the game and has some additional pouches that would be easy to add to the base body making Hask and Meeko a nice two-for-one with just a head swap and web gear as new parts.

It would be nice for Iden to get an all new more appropriate body sculpt and her ID10 seeker droid too.

Now that I have the runners up covered, let’s move on to the top 5. Number five shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who read my Top 5 Clone Trooper list, but I would love the Heavy Clone Trooper in the black series.

5. Heavy Clone Trooper

I love mowing down battle droids with the Z-6 Rotary Cannon in the game, so I think it would translate amazingly to a figure. In fact, customizer and instagram photographer extraordinaire, blksrs has already shown the way with several amazing heavy clone trooper customs. These figures look like they stepped off the screen.

This figure seems like a no-brainer as it is really just some extra web gear and blasters added to an existing clone body. You could also re-do it a bunch of times as different Clone Unit Heavy troopers.

Number four on my list continues the theme a bit with a Rebel Heavy Trooper

4. Heavy Rebel Fleet Trooper

Yeah, so I like to play as the heavy trooper, okay? We did just get the really excellent Rebel Fleet Trooper figure, so I think the Heavy Rebel Fleet Trooper would be an amazing complement to filling out the Rebel Ranks with a bit more variety.

Hasbro could get a lot of use out of the existing Fleet Trooper body with some new parts to make this guy. In general, I’d be in favor of Heavy variants of all upcoming Rebel Soldiers figures they make and would love to see some of the alternate head sculpts from the game show up in figure form. My next pick is also Rebel Scum and is directly inspired by the Imperial Rocket Trooper

3. Rebel Jump Trooper

I like playing Jet Pack Cargo, so if you make the Imperial Jump Trooper, I’m going to need the Rebel analogue.

The fun thing about this design is that it’s basically repainted in the game to make a female Rebel Fleet Trooper specialist as well, so with a repaint and a new head, you have two for one figures.

My next pick moves a bit away from the army builders and back to the story of Battlefront two with a SPOILER.

2. Rebel Iden Versio

I’ve gone on a bit of a journey with Iden. When she was initially announced, I wasn’t really in the head space of wanting to play a whole game as an Imperial True Believer, so I was glad that the story showed her turn to the Rebellion.

Her costume as a rebel is basically pilot gear with some web gear and the top of her flightsuit tied around her waist, but I really like it. I like that her ID10 seeker droid also gets a repaint and new name, DIO.

I realize that most of these are probably customs I could make for myself, but I’d really prefer Hasbro to do the work for me.

Finally, my number one most wanted Battlefront II figure would be my favorite new character in the game.

  1. Shriv Suurgav

I love the design of the Duros aliens in Star Wars, so I was predisposed to dig Shriv from the start, but they gave this guy such a fun, sardonic personality that he became the highlight of the game for me. Shriv shows up with General Lando Calrissian after Iden has turned on the Empire and they eventually become teammates and friends.

Shriv also has a lot of fun interactions with another of my favorite characters, Lando Calrissian. Shriv’s sarcastic, low-key wit is a fun contrast to the bombastic Calrissian and I also just dig the character design. They basically re-use the Rebel Soldier gear from the first Battlefront’s Sullust level, but it works great as the rust brown and tan colors of the Rebel jacket make a nice contrast to the blue-green skin. I need a figure of this guy!

Well, that’s my Battlefront II list, and honestly I’d take any of the rebel soldier variants from the game in figure form in addition to what I’ve listed here. What Battlefront figures do you want to see? Let me know on the forums or the comments below!
