First seen a few weeks ago at Wonder Festival, official promotional images of the Medicom MAFEX Marvel Comic Deadpool (No.82) and Evil Gwenpool (No.83) have now popped up. Solicitations imminent. Pre-orders assured. Wait time…extensive…
When I first saw the Deadpool I thought “Damn it, looks just like the figma!” And…it does. But Medicom threw in some extras to change it up a bit, and I feel like I’m going to dig the MAFEX size a bit more. Unless they just go insane with it, which is not unheard of in the realm of this line. But the height is listed at 160mm (6.2 inches) so I’m confident.
First up, he looks lithe but a bit beefier than the figma. That’s okay in my book. The articulation doesn’t look too shabby either…
Not Revoltech crunchy but still impressive.
Then the accessories…
Hands, of course. Swords, yup, although I’m not sure if the hilts in the scabbards are fakies or the sheathes actually work.
I’m also not sure if the alternate face looks are full heads or just the eye parts. It looks like there is a separation between the red and black, so probably eye parts.
But giving us alternate belt buckles is just spoiling us, although I can already hear the carpet monster licking it’s lips here.
But all of that comes at a price. $85. Creeping up there Medicom, let’s slow it down. I like your new QC standards but you may be pricing a lot of collectors out. But we have PLENTY of time to save up with this releasing in May 2019.
But it’s Deadpool. You had me at crotchal region options, you lovable murder machine.
Then there is Evil Gwenpool, who is waaaaay less familiar to me.
From what I understand, she hasn’t shown up much, but I get the feeling that this is coming just to get more miles out of the standard Gwenpool mold. Kind of. It shares some parts, but there’s also new parts. Which doesn’t hurt a thing at all. Honestly, I don’t have any attachment to Gwenpool either but the design and colors and look just begged me to pre-order it. I fear the same may happen here.
There’s not a pretty picture of all the accessories laid about but it looks like she comes with alternate heads, including another expression and watch type dealie for the regular Gwenpool, floating comics, hands, swords, and a mini Gwenpool that may or may not be attached to a mini Gwenpool holding hand. Again, avoid carpet.
Just look at that unmasked Gwen head. I think that’s what’s pushing me to get these, even though I haven’t read a Gwenpool comic. It just looks so good. The style and the translation to plastic. With it not being a real-life actor and not using some sort of printing, I’m hoping the final product looks like the prototype.
Evil Gwenpool is also $75, ouch, and will release in June.
And now we wait…
