SDCC 2018: Mattel Booth Day One

Since the end of DC Universe Classics and Masters of the Universe Classics at Mattel, the Mattel booth has not been high on my priority list and I almost didn’t stop by tonight. I’m glad I did. Between Multiverse, Aquaman and the Jurassic World displays I was really impressed with Mattel’s offerings this year. Check it out.

The Multiverse figures feel like they are making strides forward with these figures. Is it just me, or did Mattel finally get the Superman outfit color correct with these Bizarro figures?

The Aquaman movie is getting it’s own collect and connect figure wave. The build-a-figure looks to be Trench from the New 52 Aquaman run. It’s a stunning creature figure that I think I need and the diorama features an impressive army of the guy. Too bad it’s a collect and connect! Hard to army build.

The Jurassic World display had this amazing mirrored wall filled with Dinosaurs. I haven’t been following the line that closely, so I’m not sure if this is a new figure (I hadn’t seen it before) but it’s really impressive. I also love the dino-packed diorama at the other end of the room.

Mattel had a couple of concept ideas on display including a 12 inch Teela and Evil-Lyn and a Monster High style Evil-Lyn. They seem to be testing the waters with these concepts, so if you want them, let Mattel know.

Finally, we have this. Oooooh YEAH! Check back for more Mattel booth pics later in the week.
