If you watch my video review for this Amazing Yamaguchi Carnage you’ll hear me say that the shine of this line has worn off for me. But that doesn’t mean I hate it. No, they’re the most wonderfully frustrating action figures I own. Aggravatingly awesome and impressively irritating. I love them. I hate them. I want more for the shelf but want to throw half of them through a window. Ah, Revoltech.
I’ll only mention Venom this once, but this Carnage is no Venom. As in, it’s not a mess. Sure, there are some frustrating things here like the stuck-beyond-all-repair right thigh swivel and the joints at the shoulder and wrist that pop apart, or the mouth that won’t close, or the list of other things, but scroll down to the action pics and tell me he doesn’t look amazing. The Revoltech joints are hidden, at least for the most part, by the fantastically nasty yet beautiful body striations and spikes. The two tone color scheme helps a lot there too.
And don’t get me started on the accessories. Short version: There’s a lot. Long version: There’s a whole hell of a lot. And they are all mostly useful, all mostly at the same time. I’ve had a problem with a hole or two on the body wanting to hold the pegs of the weapons or tendrils, but I just move on to the next and keep on plugging. It’s time consuming, it’s sometimes infuriating trying to plug one in without knocking out two others, but it’s sooooo worth it.
Cletus is crazy, and this figure will drive you there. In a good way. Kinda. A tad bad, but a lot good. Again, the pictures do the talking. And the video. The video does a lot of talking too.
