So. We’ve known about this for a while now but the timing couldn’t be better to officially solicit yet another Deadpool action figure. Oh wait, did I say better?
Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Deadpool. A lot. I mean, an unnatural amount. But geezy louweezy are we seeing a hell of a lot of the Merc with a Mouth. And it’s to be expected, what with Deadpool 2 coming up fast and the first movie doing so well. Just in the past week we’ve seen a trickle of Deadpool Legends and Hasbro announced some figures from wave 2 just yesterday. There are probably all kinds of movie versions in the works from several different companies. I’m about done with all of this.
Okay, I can’t kid you guys. I’m just chomping at the bit to have all we’ve seen in-hand. There are people that have them. Why not me, toy gods? WHY NOT ME?? I am nothing but your humble servant!
Saying all that, this isn’t your daddy’s Deadpool.
We’ve seen this style a lot over the past few years. Star Wars is pumping out Stormtrooper variants along with Vader, Jango, and Boba Fett. Their Darth Maul nearly got me. We’ve also seen it with other Marvel characters. I probably would have gotten Spider-Man if it had been more ninja inspired and less armored.
But that look totally works for our boy Wade.
He’s so wacky and has had so many looks over the years that you could actually picture him wearing this in a comic somewhere. The purple kind of threw me at first but the more I’ve stared (not stared stared, more like a glance while typing)(Okay, maybe a loving gaze) the more I’m okay with it. It’s a nice contrast. Breaks up the red and black a bit. Really brings the room together. I should stop watching the DIY channel.
Coming with a pair of swords and sheathe along with a set of pistols with holsters, not only is DP armored, he’s most definitely armed. He includes enough hands to wield those weapons too.
But most interesting of all, although we’ve seen this with several other Deadpools, the figure also comes with alternate eyes. It’s a wonderful addition to emphasize the character’s ever-changing mood. All DP’s should have this feature, or alternate heads.
Like other figures in the Manga/Movie Realization lines, he’s 7-inch scale. I’ve managed to avoid them so far, but this is Deadpool.
Damn it.
Manga Realization Deadpool goes up for pre-order Feb. 1st for about $87 and will release in June.
