She’s not so shiny. Definitely more shine than the first release, but she’s still missing that vac-metal look. Captain Phasma was released from Bandai last month as part of the Force Friday: The Last Jedi sale.
VeeBee covered The Force Awakens version back in 2017 (link) and after reading his review there are a few differences. Basically Bandai captured the update in the costume as Phasma will appear in the upcoming film, The Last Jedi. The main difference seems to be the lower legs, which on this sculpt add a bit of height.
As mentioned before, the figure was advertised with a vac-metal-like finish, a shiny reflective metal-like finish. Instead the figure has a finish that looks to be shinier than the last release but doesn’t match the expected vac-metal finish. It looks good, and you see the green reflection of my green screen off the amor, but … I can’t see my reflection on her shiny dome.
Phasma comes with the usual bevy of S.H. Figuarts goods. Extra guns, spear, hands. All of them can be put to good use for some fun poses. Her molded soft cape can get in the way of poses, but it’s soft enough that it can be manipulated around her shoulders.
I don’t know if this figure is worth it. The metal finish isn’t what was expected, the joints are a bit loose and RoboKillah thinks the MAFEX version rules all. However, I missed out on the first version, I don’t collect MAFEX, and she looks great in my display. I say pick her up.
