  1. Ah, yeah, that makes sense. To my eye “90’s Spider-Man” is still in the bright reds and blues, and this color scheme veers a bit more into the “classic” shades of Spidey as depicted in the 60’s through the 80’s, but I still think this color scheme works for a 90’s Spidey minus the shading.

I think a proper “classic” 60’s Spidey would require a whole new sculpt that’s not quite so lanky, though. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1b596da1937bb539db403fc33cf8862d3efd58528db6f22759c34f7affd47e23.jpg

  2. I guess for a classic Spidey, in my mind I think the smaller lenses as opposed to the massive ones you usually get with the late 80s/90s depictions. The big eyes were fine on the previous release because it gave a sense of the eneral 90s/Bagley aesthetic but if this revision is supposed to harken back to, say, 70s Spidey, I think they should have done new heads.

It’s why I’m a sucker for the MCU suits because they all go with the older, smaller lenses.

  3. I had a feeling this Scarlet Spider was coming as soon as they released Black Suit Spidey, since this one’s just a few new sculpted parts and a piece of soft goods, but it’s amazing to actually see it made all the same. It’s mwah. Chef’s kiss. Beautiful. My only wish is that the spider emblem took up the whole torso, but that’s kind of small potatoes at this point.

And this Spidey was one I was hoping to see for a while. I’ve got the first MAFEX Spidey and it really is the best Peter Parker Spider-Man you can get in 1:12, but I always wished the colors weren’t so drab and washed out. This Spidey fixes that perfectly.

I can’t wait to see Robo do a double-feature with these guys.

But then, Peter releases in October and Ben doesn’t drop for, like, an entire year, so… who knows.

  4. I mean… they’re no more 90’s than the previous release.

Unless you mean that the color scheme is too “classic” for the “90’s” heads they gave the figure, in which case… I dunno, I think it looks better. I’ve got the first release and as much as the 90’s were about making everything Grim And Gritty, Spidey was still in the bright blues and reds, so I think it works. I’ll definitely be upgrading.

  5. The ‘classic’ Spidey’s head is way too 90s so may as well stick with the earlier version but loving the Scarlet Spider, always had a soft spot for that outfit.
