Bandai S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball Z Majin Buu (Boo) Review

This is a two-fer, Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts Majin Buu was released recently in both the “good” Buu form and the “evil” Buu form. Both figures are a ton of fun and highly recommended for even the average collector.

Majin Buu or Majin Boo (English spelling) is a popular villain in the Dragon Ball universe. Originally Buu was the epitome of evil hell bent on destruction. He appears as the “fat” version eventually growing into various forms of the tall versions. In his final form he’s a feral kid sized terror. If you’ve had the chance to see Dragon Ball Z Super you’ll have seen “fat” Buu off and on, he almost participates in the Tournament of Power.

Both figures are works of sculpting and engineering, fantastic chunks of plastic that are a joy to pose and play with. Mr. Buu (we’ll go by his Super name) is huge, it’s an enormously round ball of plastic that, despite it’s size, can pose like a champ. He comes with a few heads, cape, a ton of hands and a chocolate bar.

As much as I enjoy Mr. Buu, Evil Buu is where it’s been for me these past weeks. This figure has the same exact engineering and is just as posable, but there is something about the long tall psychotic look to him that has me going back for more. He too comes with a few heads, and hands, but doesn’t have a fun chocolate bar.

The pink color of the Buu’s really pops on the shelf and against the other Dragon Ball figures, makes me want more pink toys. If you’re bored or like to mix lines like I do, have the Buu’s go up against SHF Hulk, the color contrast alone is reason enough.

As with any S.H. Figuarts, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth the money, and no toy is really worth dripping a few hundred for. But these figures are an absolute joy to play with and totally worth the overdraw fees.
