Kaiyodo: Amazing Yamaguchi Captain America Video and Quick Pics

The Amazing Yamaguchi line is filled with ups and downs, at least for me. Captain America here is no different. I broke it right out of the box and felt that shame and disappointment that one feels when a toy breaks. First I blamed the company, then realized that I probably should have took more time before cranking on it. But I fixed it and all is good in the world. Right?

Cap isn’t my favorite of the line, but he also isn’t my least favorite. He falls somewhere in between Wolverine and Venom. Because of the breakage this time around I was more aware of the joints and the frustration they can bring. You get amazing poses but sacrifice a neutral stance and the beauty of hidden joints. It can look like a wooden marionette at some angles. But you can argue with a figure that can crouch and contort as far as these can and still hold a human shape.

My breakage came at the right boot.

It’s a ball joint in the lower knee pegging down into the boot, and the ball was stuck. So yeah, it came from the factory that way. But at this point we should all know to go slow, especially with imports. In my defense, I didn’t know what kind of joint was actually in there. Sure, I could have checked the left after the right wouldn’t budge, but nobody has ever accused me of rational thinking.

Twist. Twist some more. Twisted the peg right off.

I was able to fix it with the extra joint that came in the package. It’s not the same, now being a Revoltech joint but it pivots and rotates, so good enough.

After that mishap I was still frustrated but the more I played and posed the better I felt about the figure. Such a roller coaster, this one.
