Four Horsemen Studios: Mythic Legions Adamonn and Keltus

One of the highlights of Power-Con for me was that I got a chance to pick up some new Mythic Legions figures a bit early. An added bonus is that the figures, Adamonn and Keltus, are fantastic tributes to the two main Masters of the Universe antagonists. It’s two great tastes that go great together, the action figure equivalent of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Let’s take a look!

Adamonn comes with an axe, shield, sword, alternate helmeted head, two straps, and a tiny little piece to transform the double-bladed axe into a single-blade axe. The accessories are all pretty familiar if you collect the Mythic Legions line, they are just painted to become a He-Man tribute.

The helmet is pretty boss with a brown cross piece and a brilliant gold eagle decoration, though it looks a little odd to see a beefy shirtless dude wearing a full helm. Odd, but still kinda cool.

If you’ve read my other Mythic Legions reviews, you might remember that I got a little tired of the double-bladed axe, but darn it if it doesn’t look great painted this two-tone metallic gray and wielded by a He-Manish barbarian.

The axe has a removable top piece, and you can swap it with the tiny little spike if you want.

Keltus comes with a staff, two alternate heads, a knife, a sword, and shoulder pads.

One of the heads is purple metallic helmet with horns and it can be added to the top of the staff to create a facsimile of Skeletor’s Havoc Staff.

It can also be used as a regular head and that’s pretty cool too, especially if you want to move away a little from the tribute factor.

Between the shoulder pads, three heads, removable collar, and weapons, you can create quite a few looks for this figure.

The sculpt on these figures is great. It should be familiar to anyone collecting Mythic Legions as there is no new tooling, rather a clever combination of pieces painted to recall He-Man and Skeletor.

As always, the detail is super sharp and cool and the proportions are beefy, but not overly squat. The only slight criticism I might have is that it would be really cool to have some less armored forearm and boot pieces to help add variety to these base bodies.

Adamonn reuses the Attlus the Conqueror head, and it works really well for a King He-Man-meets-Conan warrior.

The paint on these two figures is straight-up awesome. Keltus has a great black wash on all the armor pieces and a dark blue wash on all the bones that bring out all that sharp sculpt detail.

The metallic paints and finishes are fantastic on both figures. I especially like the gold bracers and almost rust-red boots on Adamonn.

The articulation is Mythic Legions standard:

  • Ball-and-socket head and waist
  • Swivel/hinged shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles
  • Swivel forearm, thigh, and boots

The ankles have this really great range of motion that allow for some stable lunging poses that I love.

Overall, these two guys came out exceptionally well. The paints, accessories, sculpts, and articulation are all top notch and combine for a wonderful tribute to Masters of the Universe.

I get a kick out of these two and they pose great with Unkann, the orange armored Orc from last year.

The pre-order for these two already happened with the Coliseum wave of Mythic Legions, but BBTS should have some for sale closer to the release of the Coliseum Wave.
