When I first saw a static model of the Lawmaster at Mezco’s NYCC booth back in 2014, I never thought it would see the light of day as an actual release. They just don’t make 1:12 scale vehicles. I’m so glad I turned out to be wrong.
The Lawmaster with Dredd set will set you back a pretty penny. And I admit it is odd that the Dredd figure alone is priced at $65, the Lawmaster alone is pegged at $125, but the set comes in at $195. I guess $5 for that extra “dark blue variant.” So, your mileage may vary on value, but I’m happy with the execution.
No need to spend much time on the figure. You’ve probably already seen/read plenty of write-ups on the regular release figure, and he’s the same here, though with a darker (and I would say more accurate) blue color scheme. He comes with a ton of accessories, including his signature gun, a knife, two grenades, a billy club (all of which can be attached to him in some fashion), articulated handcuffs, a display base and stand, and three sets of hands. With the Lawmaster, he also gets an additional set of handlebar-holding hands. The set also comes with a quality plastic ziplock bag to store everything in.
A few years after the line’s debut, I’m still impressed with the use of soft goods at this scale. There’s no sacrifice in the figure’s articulation and everything looks dead-on for Dredd.
The Lawmaster is also a great-looking piece with a ton of detail. It’s got rolling wheels, a small bit of pivot articulation in the middle, a compartment for Dredd’s handcuffs, a working kickstand (for aesthetics only — the bike stands very well without it), as well as very cool lights and sounds. Headlights, taillights, and a light up dash are paired with four different sounds: revving bike, gear shift, machine gun, and cannon. The lights are really bright and look cool under any lighting environment.
It’s all pretty swell for a 6-inch scale figure. I know some people will be disappointed that there are no die-cast parts on the bike, but honestly I don’t miss that much. It’s such a big, solid piece that it doesn’t feel “dinky” in the least, for not having any metal pieces.
If you don’t already own this set, it’s actually still available at Mezco. Who knows for how much longer, though, as One:12 stuff does tend to sell out.
