Did TakaraTomy just exhaust-block third party Transformers manufacturers with the announcement of Shockwave and Hot Rod? Kinda sorta.
It’s a little late for Shockwave, as Quakewave has been out for a while, but it’s good news for those of us who passed on the third party version. But with Hot Rod, a couple of versions were just ramping up and bam, here’s an official release. With some neat-o accessories to boot.
MP-28 Hot Rodimus (Hot Rod) comes with two laser pistols and a buzzsaw hand attachment. It looks like MP-10 Optimus Prime’s Matrix will fit in the chest and he has a slide down visor. He is scaled to fit right in with previous cars like Prowl. Best of all, he comes with the fishing rod! Just my opinion but that’s awesome. Yup, it’s a whopper alright!
I’m excited. As a kid Hot Rod was my favorite from the movie, maybe because he was a “kid” too. But now that I just passed 40 I’m a Kup kinda guy. Probably for the same reason. So bring on Masterpiece Kup!
Hot Rod drops in Feb 2016 and will be around $66.
MP-29 Laserwave (Shockwave) come with alternate clear right hand and left gun barrel, a set of saluting hands, a regular left hand, a a smaller version of his gun mode for other Transformers to hold. His backpack also converts to a stand for Shockwave’s alt mode. And of course, a light up feature.
Shockwave is scheduled for March 2016, expect to pay around $140.
