Seen Justice League: Gods and Monsters yet? If not, you’re missing one of the better recent DC Entertainment in years. Bruce Timm’s look at an alternate Earth with different takes on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman is fascinating, and I can’t wait to see the next story from that universe.
And, of course, with any remotely interesting property, I’m hopeful to add some action figure versions to my collection. DC Collectibles has naturally revealed an initial line featuring the three main characters, but there’s a lot more options from what we’ve seen so far in the Gods and Monsters universe. Here’s the five that would make for amazing additions to the line.
From here on out, there be spoilers so consider yourself warned.
Lex Luthor — Unlike the regular DC universe Luthor (I’ll just ignore this current good guy/member of the Justice League in the new 52), the Gods and Monsters Luthor has gone beyond such petty interest of power and control.
Now he’s more obsessed with knowledge, but as his body has betrayed him, he’s forced to sit in a hovering chair, making him the Gods and Monsters equivalent to New God Metron. As a Gods and Monsters ally, Luthor warrants a slot even if he’d have to be slightly more to accommodate his hover chair.
Steve Trevor — Wonder Woman’s friend with benefit/Justice League liaison can more than handle himself in most settings. And as the one human the League seems to tolerate accompanying them on missions, he’s another essential ally. It’s not like we’ve been getting our fill of Steve Trevor figures. Let’s fix that now! Load him up with guns and we’re all set.
Harley Quinn — True, she may not exactly be running around in the Gods and Monsters universe after her last encounter with Batman, but this twisted, demented take on Harley would certainly make for an fun figure, especially if she comes with her chainsaw and mallet.
Highfather — After the fallout from the pact with Apocalypse, the big evil in the Gods and Monsters universe may not be Darkseid, but his longtime rival Highfather.
Given the state of affairs post Orion/Bekka marriage, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see Wonder Woman come into conflict with her family, so Highfather would definitely be my first choice to kick off the New Gods. And I would be down for any more New Gods DCC would like to crank out too.
Will Magnus — The movie’s true villain would make for a terrific figure with a melted face, his trusty pipe and nanite bomb. Oh, and a Tin accessory too because Tin is awesome.
Those are my choices. Who would you like to see in a possible second wave?
