In celebration of the return of Game of Thrones to TV, we’ve been looking back at the Funko Legacy Series 2 figures. Today we take a look at Arya Stark!
As I write these reviews, I’ve noticed that I really like just about every character they’ve produced as a figure. Part of what makes this show so fun to watch is that, aside from Joffrey and Ramses, I find most of the characters at least interesting, if not always appealing.
Arya’s story has been a tough one, to say the least, but I love her take-no-shit attitude and perseverance. I especially like the time she spends with Joffrey’s Hound in Season 4, so I’m glad they chose this look for the figure.
Not too much here again, but you do get her sword Needle, which is essential.
The sword is cast in a very light plastic and is pretty sharp as far as toy swords go.
I initially though that she couldn’t store the sword in her belt, but upon closer examination of the figure, I noticed there was free space to slide the sword into her belt.
I’m not sure if that was intentional or not, but it works well and looks great.
The outfit is amazingly detailed and screen accurate. The face sculpt is fairly close to the actress’ likeness, but is a little off. Her face seems a little rounder and her forehead is a little higher than it should be, like the hair doesn’t sit where it’s supposed to on the head.
You can tell it’s supposed to be Arya, but I don’t think it quite nails it. The prototype shots were a lot closer, so I’m thinking this is a production issue.
The articulation is very nice and moves well. Arya has the following articulation:
- Ball-and-socket neck and torso
- Swivel hinged shoulders, hips, wrists, ankles, and elbows
- Double-hinged knees
- Thigh swivels
Paint is nice on the costume with some good washes for weathering and detail. The eye paint doesn’t quite feel centered properly and I think that that contributes to the likeness being a little wonky.
Arya’s a good figure, but the likeness issue hurts her a bit. It’s nice to get a figure of a kid like this in a line to make a little height variation in the display. I really enjoy posing her with the Hound and practicing her water dancing.
I’ve also seen series two hitting local Targets at a good price as well lately.
