Madelman: Agente Secreto

DSCN0956

Earlier this week, Benty (that’s Ibentmyman-thing to you muggles) mused about the distinct lack of James Bond figures.

Well, no James, I’m afraid, but how about a Brian?

Another release from the Popular de Juguetes leg of the Madelman dynasty, The Secret Agent figure is a treasure trove of espionage parts and kit, and you get a free figure with purchase!

Packaging is swell, and tri-lingual, but I prefer the window box of the earlier figures.

The cardback is great, though.  If you can’t make it out, the rundown is that this is Brian, 1.83m tall and weighing in at 80kg, is a specialist that excels in discovering state secrets in dangerous countries.  When he has down time, he practices Choy Lee Kung Fu, and reads martial arts magazines.

Now, the figure is the same basic body you’ve seen in my other Madelman figures, and just like them, he has decent articulation and a Ken doll head.  Don’t get me wrong, you can see what they were going for, but it didn’t quite take.

No, this particular figure earns his keep in clothing and kit.

The uniform is a black tactical-neck and some black slacks.  He has a shoulder rig for cross-drawing his pistol, and some sensible black shoes.  The overcoat is a fantastic pleather one, with two velco tabs and two interior pockets.

His gear is some of the best to be found anywhere for a six-inch figure.  He has a operations briefcase that inside houses his MP5K shortie subgun, removable silencer, bug out cash, camera with two interchangeable lenses, a “secret bullet” projectile that can launch from the case, as well as some nicely sculpted details.  His Walther-style pistol can also use the silencer, and has a rail for a removable laser sight.  He has a small radio with earpice, and some badass shades to round it out.  There are also suction cups for his hands and feet, for some Ethan Hawke-type bizness, but I couldn’t get them to work for me. Maybe I need to wash my windows.

If you’ve read my Madelman features before, then you know the bad news is these figures will set you back some time and money to get from overseas.  It’s a massive downer, especially considering how US-ready the packaging is, but that’s how it goes to get the goods, sometimes.

Just for funsies, and to show you just how cool this figure really is, I included some shots I took for the Madelman thread, where I had him try on the Neca T-800 head.

So, yeah, he’s a butterface.  And he’s a pain in the ass to get. But, even taking all this into account, you will be hard-pressed to find a better secret agent figure than Brian here.
