Morning Rush: Threezero and Bandai’s FullMetal Ghost

Yeah baby! I’m back, after a short break due to work I’m back in the saddle. And don’t worry Robo-san I ordered my Figma Iron Man, granted I couldn’t find the Tony Stark version, I’ll live. Speaking of Japanese toys! I love me some Gundam! Or well yeah, Gundam like robots, always have, one of my favorite mech designs. Evah.

I should have Threezero and Bandai’s first collaboration at my house any day, shipping notice received now we wait on shipping and customs. I imagine customs is going to have a field day with me. For those of you that forgot what this is all about, it’s Threezero (of 3A fame), Bandai and Kunio Okawara’s collaboration of a new line of 1712 (six inch scale) robots. These things are fully articulated and come with a human pilot to drive your mech. These are beautifully designed and carry Okawara’s signature all over them, some have even noted this is very… Gundam.

At C3, a hobby show on the other side of the world, Threezero showed off the latest wares, a new mech, a tank and some spiffy designs. You can head over to Threezero’s Facebook Page for all the details. for your viewing pleasure I’ll throw some pics up here with a brief description.

The prototype shown below is for the FullMetal Ghost Captain. As you can see in the following pictures these are both drawn with Red and White. And yes, Samael13, you are dead on right, these do have an amazing resemblance to Char Aznable’s and Amuro Ray’s Zaku and Gundam colors in Mobile Suit Gundam. Which is no surprise considering that these are designed by Okawara and Bandai. What I’d like to know is if they are thinking of some kind of tie in, a new universe. That would be very cool. And very expensive, my wallet is already draining from the thought. Please don’t put these up for sale before June 2014, I can’t budget it before then.

Also shown was a Ninja design, which also looks very cool. We have a Samurai, a tank, 2 samurai captains and now a ninja. Did I mention these are 1/12 scale standing 18″ tall and that my wallet is bleeding? If you get the chance check out some more of the concept art linked above in Threezero’s Facebook album.
