Secret Identities – VictorVonDoom

I ask Fwooshmembers questions.

They answer them.

VictorVonDoom "It’s pretty damn geeky"

Where do you live?

I’ve lived in southern, suburban New Hampshire for just about my whole life. A life of excitement and adventure, for sure.

What are your neighbors like?

They are frighteningly like the Flanders. They have the same family size, ages, and they even look like the Flanders, and are just as religious. It’s quite eerie. My neighbors to the other side are trees. I don’t know what they’re like.

What do you collect?

Marvel Legends, Minimates, and I’m beginning to collect NECA horror and Harry Potter figures. Outside of toys, I’ve been buying horror movies like crazy for a year or so, mostly during toy droughts.

Which one is your favorite?

Legends, definitely. Minimates are a close runner up, but I’ve invested so much into buying Legends that they just have to be #1.

Which one is your favorite ML?

Favorite Figure. That’s like picking between my 200 children. If I had to choose, I suppose I’d say ML13 Green Goblin. Perfect rendition.

How did you find the fwoosh?

It was so long ago, I don’t totally remember. I want to say I found one of Pab’s customs through a google search, and ended up on the forum (which at that point only had about 50 members). I had been posting on superherohype until them, and liked how much smaller Fwooshnet was in comparison. I suppose times have changed.

You are probably the youngest member with the most seniority.

I suppose so, I was 11 when I joined, I am now 16. I’ve gone through long stretches without posting, but overall, I’ve matured while posting. Though I do apologize for my whiny teen stage, which did appear quite prominently on the boards, if anyone recalls.

Do you have an opinion on Hasbro and the Marvel license?

I have a love-hate feeling going on. Some of the character choices have been fantastic, and some of the sculpts are up there with the very best of Toy Biz, but I’d be lying if I said I was completely pleased with some of the changes they’ve made to the formula. I won’t go bitching about it constantly, and I’m completely expecting Hasbro to wow me in the future. I’m sure they’re still getting the right feel with the line and working out the kinks, and as long as some good figures come out of it (which has already happened), I’m pleased. Plus, some of the stuff we saw at SDCC is phenomenal, and I can’t wait to see Fin Fang Foom.

How are you preparing yourself to take over the fwoosh in 2012?

2012? I had been planning for 2009. And, well, I don’t want to give away my tricks of the domination trade, but 16,000 troops are being prepared at the moment. Granted, they are plastic and 6 inches tall, but they’ll pick up fighting from watching the military channel. I know them; they’re smart like that.

What are you doing now?

Waiting to begin my junior year at High School. Joy. (Note the sarcasm).

I used your list a lot until Wikipedia was invented. Do you make a lot of lists?

Well, I feel honored that any of my lists were of any use to anyone. It’s funny; I’m an incredibly unorganized person. I can barely keep my figures on shelves, but I love making lists of use to my collections. It’s pretty damn geeky, but it gives me a semblance of organization.

Do you know anyone in real life that collects?

Nope. Though there must be someone around here who does, as I always find pegs missing the figures I was looking for.

What forums do you spend time?

Right now, almost exclusively Fwoosh and minimate multiverse.

What are your future plans?

As soon as a graduate high school and have enough funds put together, I plan on pursuing an acting career. Call it optimism to the point of ignorance, but I’m truly determined to make it work for myself.

What are your favorite movies?

Star Wars, Psycho, American Beauty, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Casablanca, Kill Bill, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Bride of Frankenstein, Halloween. Really, any universal monster film.

Who are your favorite actors?

When it comes to modern actors, I’m a fan of Uma Thurman, Helena Bonham Carter, Christopher Lee, Johnny Depp and Kevin Spacey. Dead actors: Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Sr/Jr, Humphrey Bogart and Claude Rains.
 Bela Legosi
If you had to choose one:
the choice is either work and have money and be miserable
or not work, be broke but be happy?

Broke, be happy, and adding to that, feel fulfilled.

Any pets?

Two homosexual beagles and a transgender cat. No lies.

Do you customize?

I wish. I have nothing but respect for customizers, but I don’t have a job currently, so I can’t exactly afford much more than the released figures.

Helena Bonham CarterWhy are kids so crazy?

Our parents smoked marijuana while we were in the womb.

What is the definition of "cool"?

David Hasselhoff singing "Hooked on a Feeling". It’s how I’ve based my whole life image. Besides from that, William Shatner.

Ever been mugged?

In Suburbia, mugging just means to hand out coffee mugs bearing the faces of long deceased authors.

Do you follow sports?

Much to the chagrin of my father, I have never really gotten the appeal of sports. I’ve tried watching them, even been to some. I still don’t get it.

Travel?

I’ve been to two states. And I live in one. A lovely life. (I lie, it sucks)

Where would you like to travel?

Europe. California. Anywhere but New England. After 16 years, it looses its luster.

The goal for a lot of teenagers is to own a car.
Especially if they live far away from any sort of action.

Yes, I just started driving lessons, and will start drivers Ed sometime after the New Year. After I have my physical license, I’ll start worrying about a car.

What do you do to relax?

Kick back and watch a movie, usually sketching or painting while it’s on.

What music do you listen to?

Experimental stuff, and I will admit I enjoy some classical and some show tunes.

J. Depp

What do you spend your free time doing?

At the risk of sounding pretentious, I really just love art. I sketch, paint, act, do improv and film, all of which I do constantly in my free time. I don’t think I’m particularly great, but I just love to do it.

What is the longest you have stayed awake?

I’m an insomniac, and have been for about 7 years. I went three days, unable to sleep once. Granted, I don’t really remember the last day and a half or so. I do believe I transcended humanity and became a form of zombie at that point.

Would you prefer an ocean that is not so salty?

I think the ocean would benefit from a dash of rosemary and a pinch of cumin.

Pan's Lab

Thanks VVD!
