Ask Mattel – 7/14/7

The guys at Mattel are back with answers to all of your burning questions about DC, their product lines and what the future might have in store!

1. What is the status of the DC Superheroes Cyborg Superman figure? Is he coming in an assortment in the near future?

Cyborg Superman will be out later this summer/early fall.

2. The press release about the new agreement went live last week and states that the "entire portfolio" of characters is now at your disposal. Does that include characters from the Fawcett Comics Family (e.g. Shazaam and Mary Marvel) and the Charlton Comics Family (e.g. The Question, Blue Beetle and Captain Atom)? These are essential characters in the DC pantheon and hopefully they are included.

We have many more degrees of freedom to explore in the DC Universe than before.  However, for various reasons, bringing certain characters to market can be very complicated.  Our partners at DC are as eager as we are to bring as much of the Universe to the market as possible and where it makes sense.

3. With these characters available under the new agreement is Mattel looking to include fan favorite characters along side the "big guns"?

Absolutely. We are certainly looking at collector favorites when considering who can make it into different toy lines. Having access to these new characters is a great thing and doing a collector friendly line is high on our priority list.

4. For DCSH – any chance of doing boxsets or playsets like the Daily Planet and Gotham City rooftops dioramas? And what about Build-A-Figures?

These are all great ideas which we have discussed. But it would be a shame to ruin any surprises with Comic Con so close! Come to our booth or stop by our Warner Brothers DC Action Figure panel Friday at 11:30 in room 10 to get the full scoop!

Thanks again to Mattel for taking the time to answer our questions. Stay tuned for all of Fwooshnet.com’s DC/Mattel San Diego Comic Con coverage coming soon!
