Oh yes – we’ve truly been suffering to bring you Fwooshers the latest in news, gossip, and intrigue from sunny San Diego. We’ve endured threats of violence from Jesse Falcon and Damon Nee, the open bar at the Hasbro / Marvel launch party, and repeated offers from carl and Jason_in_NC to head back to the car to "compare packages."
If you’ve been searching for pics, look no further: San Diego Comic Con – 2006
Here’s what we’ve got so far:
- Toy Biz: Marvel Legends (Mojo and MODOK series), Face Off, Icons, X-Men, HoM, plus a tantalizing set of pics we’re calling "What Might Have Been"
[SamuRon’s comments: Oops, they did it again. They played with my heart. Got lost in the game. Oh baby baby. Translated: loved everything, even the torture of seeing those X-Babies and henchmen.]
- Hasbro: Marvel Legends ("Series 1" is up – check back for what’s on display today), Icons, Spider-Man Origins, Ghost Rider Movie, and some more Marvel-related toys that we didn’t feel like breaking out into separate albums.
[SamuRon: Legends "1" is improved over the pics we saw in Toy Fare, but based on the comments from the Fwooshers at last night’s Hasbro / Marvel launch, we’re really gonna want to see what comes out today. I’m liking the Iron Spidey, and just keep reminding myself that Spidey Origins is targeted at kids, not me.]
- Mattel: DC Superheroes
[SamuRon: Sweet Jeebus, those 2-ups are beautiful! I hope they don’t skimp on scale.]
- DCD: New Frontier and JSA
[SamuRon: I’ll be picking up selected figures from the JSA line – that Hawkgirl is awesome – but I guess I’ll never figure out why people like artist-specific toys. Sue me.]
- SOTA: Darkstalkers and Street Fighter
[SamuRon: Is it wrong to be aroused by an action figure? And no, I’m talking about Morrigan, not Zangief. With Jerry taking SOTA in the online store direction, I’m more confident we’ll see Darkstalkers come out and the SF line continue.]
- McFarlane: Lost
[SamuRon: Yeah, you guys know I hate statues posing as action figures. But when I saw these, I had to admire the way McF can capture the essence and emotion of a real person.]
Keep checking back. With Doubledealer reportedly on site, we should be seeing some Booth Babe pics any moment now.
