This is a model kit of Attack on Titan’s main character Eren Yeager’s Titan form. Titans are the big giant man-eating beasts that are threatening the human world in Attack on Titan. These things are ginormous, coming in at 60 meters tall in their Colossal form. Kotobukiya released a model kit of Eren’s Titan this month and in a fury of modeling withdrawal I assembled it in 5 minutes.
The kit is fantastic, it’s a super-poseable action figure when completed and it is extremely easy to build. It’s like an old Gundam kit with polycaps and whatnots, each piece fitting/snapping together pretty seamlessly. Not perfect as you can see from the pictures, but nothing that a drop of superglue here or there can’t fix. When completed the figure stands over 6 inches tall and can pose like a fiend.
He’s clearly too short to pose as an accurately scaled titan in your figma Attack on Titan collection, but he’s still a good display with them. And his scale is perfect for going up against N.E.C.A. Pacific Rim figure or S.H. Monsterarts Godzillas and Gameras. I’d image he’d look cool in an N-Scaled model railroad, maybe something outfitted with building from Kato Unitrack or TomyTech. If you’d rather have him as a six inch action figure in your collection you’ll find that he fits as a creepy naked monster in just about any theme you got going on from Marvel Legends (ooh I see a Doctor Strange battle) or figma or S.H. Figuarts or Four Horsemen lines, he’ll be a welcome addition.
The figure comes with 2 preassembled heads. At first I was baffled by the heads but then I saw that they have the moving eyes giving me the impression Kotobukiya did not want the modeler to deal with this assembly. Fair enough. One small issue that I have as a result, is the faces and hair pieces fall off way too easily on both heads, buyers will need to figure out how to secure them in to their liking. In addition to the extra heads there are a number of hands for you to build.
As mentioned this figure is loaded with articulation. And it’s great to see! There is so much packed in and you get to assemble every last bit. Toe joints to rocker ankles to well… I think I could fill up a page listing all the joints. Not all the joints work that well. There are some that are head-scratchers, like the base of the neck having full forward movement but not backwards. And the ball joint at the base of the skull is a glorified swivel, there isn’t a huge range of motion with it.
I’d recommend this kit for a number of reasons, it’s a great kit, it fits well with a six inch action figure line and its a naked man. Yeah I know that last one sounds bizarre but it makes it an unusual piece in your collection. If you are a customizer this could be good, expensive, custom fodder for you.
