I understand the function, they just look unnatural and bad to me personally.spinc wrote:I really like them, at least when they do them right. They're basically the same SH figuarts use, but Neca seems to still be in a learning curve on how to use them. The new Savage Crucible figures are also using it. Still, having a swivel hinge elbow below the bicep is good since it allows the arm to swivel inwards across the body, allowing for double handed poses with a sword! If it only has a bicep swivel then the bicep and the chest usually get in the way of articulation.thefamousnicknaro wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 5:30 amThey look great, but man, those NECA elbows are so weird when they do them.
Yeah I'm an articulation junkie, lol.

Despite having a bunch of these guys as a kid, I'm not feeling any nostalgic pull *except* for Warduke.
I could be tempted by a Kellek or a Mercion, but we'll have to see.

I'm really hoping for one of the Wizard/Sorcerer characters in the next wave after Strongheart, because the Mythic Legions wizards are going to be awhile and they're a bit too small for my 1:10 collection anyways.

I'm with you. I only pre-ordered Warduke so far, but I might end up getting Grimsword eventually too. Did they give an update on when series 1 would finally actually ship? The date's been moving since March.VeeBee wrote:These are just so damned cool in person. I cannot wait.

I think in the interview Randy said looking like September. I assume the typical reasons for delay, but I was so looking forward to these back in March.Mister Skeezler wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 4:13 pmDid they give an update on when series 1 would finally actually ship? Re: NECA: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
This is a dream line for me. I really hope we continue to get cool figures. I'd pay hundreds for a good, large Tiamat. Kelek is a must have, Ringlerum is great. I bet the Drawf is coming, I love his character.
As a huge fan of d&d, this is a dream line for me and i'm so happy to get it. I'll gladly buy pretty much any figure they put out.
Hook Horror, Nightmare, and a Bullywog would be great, if they dip into deluxe and pvc characters.

Re: NECA: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
My favorite as a kid was Northlord. The fact that his sword fit through a loop on his belt blew my damn mind as a little kid.
If NECA makes him, I must buy him. But my luck would be that it happens a year from now, and Warduke will be long sold out. I want Warduke, but I just can't afford him right now.
Being unemployed sucks. On the one hand, I enjoy laying around doing nothing all day, but on the other hand, I have no means to purchase any goods or services.

Northlord would most likely be some kind of deluxe figure since hes supposed to be a giant.

Re: NECA: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
I had two Wardukes and broke both. I also had Northlord and that wizard in the black robe. I always wanted Steelheart and Grimsword but either couldn't find them or when it came time t choose the toy of the day, I may have chosen something else. Speaking of deluxe figures I had the Hooked Horror monster which stuck around to fight many other lines including Godzilla. I'd like to see it introduced to the line. I have the first two preordered and will get Steelheart when he goes up as well.

Re: NECA: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
I'm really excited for these figures.
I still feel the sting of paying for a third party MOTU Classics version of Warduke that never came, so I've long wanted this guy in my collection.
I'm excited to hear that NECA has plans for more and will eagerly gobble up whatever they release next - though i'm hoping for Kelek and Elkhorn personally.
Do we think they'll stick with the name Melf - for the elven archer? It wasn't a great name then and is even worse now. Not that Hawkler is a ton better. Man... not only do I want the entire LJN run redone, I want them to go deep and do other characters. I really hope they have success with this line - there's SO much I would love to have.

Re: NECA: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
Is the idea behind Melf just Male Elf? Truly the height of creativity, especially when his contemporaries got names like Elkhorn and Mercion, and even Strongheart. He could have been Woodenbow and that probably would have been better. Technically it's fine though, if it's his name it's his name, but if they wanted to update it I wouldn't be too surprised.
Decided to look it up for fun, apparently he was explicitly never named. I guess they could go with Peralay, or apparently Prince Brightflame?

Re: NECA: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
Some sculptor commentary for Zarak and Strongheart:
Strongheart looks to come with a solid array of accessories, but I'd hope that Zarak will come with a bit more. Being so small and coming with fewer accessories would seem strange. Another head with a different expression would be a good start. More weapons too.
Bit of a tease in there about Strongheart having to deal with all the bad guys on his own.

Strongheart looks great, always looking for more knights and I've always liked his look. It doesn't look like the visor of his helmet lowers from the pics we've seen, but I'm hoping it does.

Also in the Zarak comments it sounds like that's all he's going to come with? That would be unfortunate, because he comes with less than any other character aside from Grimsword, but Grim's excuse is that he's a brick while Zarak is the smallest character. They seem to want to treat him kind of like an army builder, so including another head or even a masked head would probably go a long way in achieving that. Seems like he could use more gear, too. And double elbows too.
Re: NECA: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
Someone in the comments of the Strongheart post actually asked about that and it was confirmed that it will be able to lower. Definitely happy that's going to be a feature.PresidentJuggernaut wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 4:55 pmStrongheart looks great, always looking for more knights and I've always liked his look.
