Bandai: S.H. Figuarts Avengers: Endgame Thanos Review

Thanos is a recent release from Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts Avengers: Endgame lineup and I’m underwhelmed. I know, it’s a surprise, maybe I had really high expectations or I was hoping for more, but this figure did not impress me.

Thanos is beautifully sculpted, it is an amazing feat to capture so much detail at this scale. As collectors we speak about the Hot Toys quality in 6 inch figures and Bandai has definitely done that with their S.H. Figuarts line. This figure is a testament to that, it is beautiful.

But there’s something off for me. It’s the articulation, everything is there that needs to be her but it doesn’t seem to work. There’s amazing ranges of motion but they’re kind of hindered by the sculpted armor. In areas where you expect certain movement you get not enough, maybe I’m expecting too much, but say, the lack of a bicep swivel makes posing the arms difficult. The limited range of the thigh swivel takes away from posing; it’s all there but it doesn’t work the way I expect it to.

Thanos comes with a number of accessories, faces, hands and his double sword. It’s a fair number of accessories, not a lot but enough. Thanos is a monster piece of plastic, bigger than the last version, he doesn’t need a ton of accessories beyond the hands and heads.

Verdict? I’m happy I have him for the shelf, but I don’t think he was worth the heavy price tag. Sometimes I love these high priced figures and get behind them, but there are things, mainly articulation, that don’t do it for me.

You can pick up Thanos, no where. Ah, not true but he’s a tough find and will cost the extra penny these days.
