New MAFEX and Revoltech at Miyazawa Model Spring Exhibition 2018

Surprise, there’s a hobby show happening overseas! I had no idea. Again. So when pics of a MAFEX comic Spider-Man and Justice League Bruce Wayne, along with Revoltech Winnie the Pooh and a more finalized Amazing Yamaguchi Batman started filling up my feed, I had to go do some research.

Not a lot of info, this is more of an “OOOOOO, look at the pretty pictures of plastic forms I may be interested in purchasing” type post. Reveals without release dates. But that’s okay.

We’ve seen prototypes of the Kaiyodo Amazing Yamaguchi Batman and it’s looked good so far. Unless you fear that cape like I do. I look at it and wonder if I’ll be able to hold it together during that review. And by “hold it together” I mean both the cape itself and my sanity. But now seeing the figure painted, I need it even more. The lats/side torso/shoulder socket articulation is a little too blatant but will look good in extreme poses. Custom cape, anyone? Anyone?

A Revoltech Winnie the Pooh? Unexpected, but it gives hope for more classic Disney type characters. They did the best they could super-articulating the design and the extras are pretty sweet.

Stupid MAFEX and their current streak of fairly nice QC (and I say “fairly nice” because EVERY company has it’s hiccups at one point or another, and while Medicom has gotten their stuff together in the past few years and have actually surpassed some other collector favored companies, they aren’t perfect) making me want toys of characters I didn’t think I wanted. Bruce Wayne from Justice League? Do I need it? Hell no. Do I want it? Hell yes! I’m liking Medicom’s commitment to the Batman and JL franchise, going above and beyond most other’s offerings.

Finally, it looks like Spider-Man will be the next Marvel comic character in the MAFEX line after Gwenpool. I don’t get into the whole “It’s McFarlane/it’s Larsen/it’s Bagley” thing as it’s been over twenty years since I’ve gave those a good look, but this is in the running to be the ultimate Spidey on the shelf.
