Okay, the S.H. Figuarts Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon with Groot figures have finally been officially solicited. And while there isn’t a lot we didn’t already know there are a few things clarified.
Namely, whether or not these are Soul Web exclusives. Unfortunately, they are. That means you’ll have to go third party with these or wait for Bluefin, who I expect to be making an announcement any time now.
Second of all, they characters are separate releases. Star-Lord and then Rocket with baby Groot. This was a bit expected so it’s not a surprise.
First up, Star-Lord.
Star-Lord comes with extra hands, a masked head, and two guns. He’s pictured with pink Tamashii effects but tthose aren’t listed as being included. Maybe the Bluefin release? Either way, I dig how the pink plays off the figure.
Then there is Rocket Raccoon with baby Groot:
Rocket is listed as 3.14 inches while Groot measures .5 inches tall. The lower price of $41 fits the smaller size but the duo isn’t without extras. Rocket comes with three heads (smiling, yelling, neutral) while Groot has two different bodies and three heads. The listing only says two heads but there are definitely three pictured (smiling, frowning, neutral) and I’m assuming the heads are interchangeable between both bodies (naked and Ravagers gear). To top that all off Rocket also includes an extra set of hands with guns molded into them. At least that’s how I’m seeing the pics and reading the description. Also, a stand.
I’m not sure how I feel about the clear “stand” molded to Groot’s legs on both figures. At least it looks molded, maybe it’s just a tight-fitting separate piece? I mean, it’s better than it falling over and being lost in the carpet, so it’s probably better it’s there.
Star-Lord, Rocket and Groot are all set to release in September.
