Thank the Maker, Bandai is finally solicited C-3PO and R2-D2 for their Star Wars S.H. Figuarts line! And they look glorious!
We’ve seen them pop up in sneaky pics from various overseas shows, and they’ve even appeared in alternate colors like Episode 2 C-3PO and R4, but it looks like Tamashii Nations is just giving us the most iconic looks for the droids. They seem a little clean but they look great!
C-3PO
Bandai is boasting the latest coloring technology for 3PO and he appears to come with a communicator. It also says that the figure makes use of the S.H. Figuarts joints and that it has full range of motion. I have to admit, the poses do seem to be more fluid than what we’re used to seeing for the protocol droid.
R2-D2
Not to be outdone, the astromech features arms and tools that pop out when the doors are opened.
R2 also features a pop-out third leg and “lights” on both the front and back of the dome that change colors when you move the little lenses. Nifty.
Both are set to release in July. C-3PO will run you about $56 and R2 costs about $40. No info when pre-orders will go up but if they don’t hit over the weekend I’m guessing it will be the first of March.
