DreamEX: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Krang and Turtles Teasers

DreamEX Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Krang Preview Featured

I’m a little late with this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Krang teaser from DreamEX, but while browsing around I ran across some pictures of the actual Turtles in various stages of production. Let’s just throw it all into one article!

But before that, let’s do a rundown of the DreamEX TMNT figures before drooling over new stuff. Here’s the teaser for the Turtles themselves, shown before anything else.

Then, in an unexpected but awesome move, DreamEX decided to say screw it, we’re going to show off a supporting character first. We don’t usually see that, most of the time we get the four main Turtles and then hope for the best when it comes to other characters. But revealing Casey Jones first was outstanding. It shows a commitment to this property that we don’t see often. And the Casey figure itself is one hell of a debut. It has me 99 percent convinced that I’m going to be broke towards the end of the year.

Then to keep the fires of plastic desire raging, Shredder was shown. Wowza.

Both Shredder and Casey are up for pre-order on BigBadToyStore. Pricey, but it was expected, being that these are high quality 12-inch figures.

This past week DreamEX continued the trend by releasing a quick preview of their Krang. Massive. Beefy. Squishy brain. Radical.

Two villains and a comrade-in-arms shown before any of the members of the name of the line itself. I can’t get over that. It’s so out of left field for a company. But that can also be a double-edged sword. Yeah, the three reveals look amazing, but are they worth getting if the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themselves aren’t up to par? Ah, see, always in doubt, collectors are. Oops, channeled another beloved green character. But you needn’t doubt …

Appearing at a Toy Fair-type event in Hong Kong, we get to see more of the awesomeness that is Casey and Shredder, but if you gaze left you can see what looks to be a completely prototyped Leonardo, a cast Michelangelo, and a primered Raphael in trench coat. They look to be about shoulder height to Casey, which is just about perfect in my book. Let’s flip it around and look closer.

So. Beautiful. Pizza accessory, weapons, grappling hook, rocket board, extra hands, and an alternate head. It took me a minute to figure out why Leo has an extra set of arms behind the figures until I looked at Mikey and was wondering how much articulation was needed to get that nice of a crossed-arm look. I think the crossed arms are an interchangeable extra set. You can kind of make out that shape from the arms on the floor.

EDIT:

Those are indeed an extra set of crossed arms. It also looks like there is a shell communicator lying with the other accessories.

They must be saving Donatello for last because, well, he’s the best. Yeah, I said it. Shhh, just trust me, no need to argue.

Oh, and there’s Krang towering over them.

I’m not going to be able to help myself. I’m definitely in for Casey; it’s just too tempting. But what is Casey without the four Turtles? Just a dude with sporting equipment. Then if you get those five, it just looks weird, having only good guys and no villains to tip the scales. And that Shredder is just as nice as Casey. At that point you’re all in. Why pass on Krang?

Collecting is hard.
