After the Darth Vader and Stormtrooper model kits I’ve been waiting for more pictures of these.
I’ll admit it, after just two releases I am totally enamored with this line. Not only are they great action figures in my favorite scale, they are a lot of fun to put together. It’s interesting to see all the inner mechanics of these awesome little things we obsess over.
The third leg actually stores up into the body. Hopefully it just slides up and down, no action feature required. The kit also comes with 7 add-on extensions for R2 that plug into various opening panels. It looks like the panels on the head hinge open, which is cool because it’s less likely to lose them. Of course, the attachments are pretty small too so I’m bound to lose something either way. At least it won’t be something essential to the basic look of R2.
Bases are also included. They look the same as Vader and Stormtrooper and attach to those, if you so choose.
I’m most interested in finding out what is sticker and what is molded in color. The blue and red parts of R2 and R5 look to be separate pieces, which is perfect. It’s hard to tell what else is molded in color. After putting stickers on the Stormtrooper and finding out it’s easier than I thought, I’m not too worried.
The official release date is now March 28th. So close!
