Hasbro: Star Wars Black Series Han/Tauntaun, Emperor, and Stormtrooper Luke Loose Factory

It’s Toy Fair season. The time for new toys to be revealed and then the long wait for them to see release. And then there is stuff like this, early Hong Kong eBay loose figures that show us what we’re actually getting.

I’ll admit it. I’ve been wanting the Hoth Han and Tauntaun set. Badly. So to see that a lot of the detail made it through manufacturing is awesome. The subtle pink on the Tauntaun snout is a nice surprise, as well as the paint detail on the horns. Gives me more hope for the Wampa. This also shows Han has a removable hood. Odd, but easier to put the goggles on? Maybe.

Luke in Stormtrooper gear is no big surprise, both in choice and appearance. He’s a Luke head on a Stormtrooper body. Is it just me or is the torso scrunched to fake shortness? You can also see how less paint apps affect the likeness. This is the same head from X-Wing Luke but compare the two. Big difference.

Here’s Han in Stormtrooper gear for comparison. Definitely a difference in how much abs are showing.

And finally, here’s Emperor Palpatine. He’s….okay. My big hope here is that there is a wire in the opening of the hood. It almost seems that way with how poofed up in the air it is. Maybe that’s wishful thinking? At least let it pull down. Otherwise I think I’m…okay…with this figure who will probably just stand in the back. At least the face is a pretty close likeness.

  1. love the tauntuan wish they would have done a variant with the open chest. the emperor looks like prune face lit his face on fire with electricity.

  2. Agreed, that looks…rough (probably a nice way to put it). Just checked the Darth Maul on my shelf and can’t help but wonder why they didn’t do something similar here with Palpatine.

  3. Soft goods robe looks like garbage. It somehow manages to look WORSE than a cloth robe on a 3.37 inch figure.
